Mobile Mustang Information Corral
Hello, Mobile Mustang Parents and Guardians!
Welcome back! The kids have done an amazing job of coming to class and participating. It is great to see them back and work with them.
Next week is MAP testing, please see the schedule in this week’s newsletter.
In addition to the schedule changes, another update for you is that Mr. Johnson and Mr. Fulton are using Schoology, instead of Google Classroom for their Social Studies and Science classes. This learning platform looks different, but they believe it has advantages over Classroom that benefit your child and online learning. Here is a link of how to login and get notifications from Schoology about assignments and classes: Schoology Parent Access
If you would like to learn more, here is the district website showing how to access and work within Schoology: Schoology Support
Mobile Mustangs showing H.E.A.R.T.
Students with schedule changes this week! They showed great Effort adjusting and getting to the classes they need.
Thank you for your continued support of your child and the Manning Mobile Mustangs!
A Message from Ms. McLeod
Students in Ms. McLeod's Nature Writing class worked hard all semester to create beautifully written pieces inspired by their time spent outside taking field notes. Add some brightness to your day by reading their short stories, poetry, and essays published here: https://sites.google.com/jeffcoschools.us/nature-writing/home

SEL Corner....a place to fill up your bucket
Welcome back folks! I’ve had a hard time think of the calendar new year as the new year due to years either working in schools or being a student myself. To me, the new year doesn’t happen until August. But, hey. That’s just me.
If you are a person who enjoys or tries to set a New Year’s resolution, I would like to kindly encourage softness in that endeavor. Perhaps setting an intention, theme, or umbrella word might be more motivating than something fixed. And instead of a goal for the year, what about a theme for the season? My theme for this next season is Health. Using an expansive concept allows it to be applied across my life. I can display physical health, emotional health, financial health, whatever. It’s a theme that can help guide choices, small improvements, and notice the steps towards Health.
Using a theme also allows for flexibility and can challenge perfection. I love cookies. Cookies help keep me mentally healthy and don’t take away from my physical health. This thought process can be applied to screen time or buying treats from time to time. Everything in moderation, even moderation.

Holocaust Survivor Assemblies
In conjunction with the reading of Holocaust literature, nonfiction, and The Diary of Young Girl in 7th-grade Language Arts, students will
be attending "virtual assemblies" on: Dec. 11 and Jan. 29.
- January 29, 2021 – Rudi Florian, Propaganda & Personal Responsibility
o 8:30 AM – 9:15 AM Hybrid A
o 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM Hybrid B
*Mobile Mustangs can attend either assembly.
The tradition of having a Holocaust survivor visit The Manning School is provided by a generous grant from the Mizel Museum and our PTA-funded
Enrichment Program. For more information about the assemblies, please visit: https://mizelmuseum.org/program/eyewitness-to-history-a-holocaust-survivor-speaks/
At Manning, we strive to live our core values every day.
