The ACTS Group

Activating Unified Gospel Initiatives

Word from the Director

It is always interesting for me to get to year end and take time to reflect - where were we in December 2016 and where are we now? The main move is that the ACTS Group moved fully into the model of being a consultancy that activates unified gospel initiatives in communities and cities. Very simply, that means that we are focusing the work on leaders of churches, businesses and organizations that want to cooperatively work together over several years for an integrated gospel movement effort. The ACTS Group works with them as a third party catalyst to achieve outcomes set up in two initial consultations that bring clarity and unity around what the group wants to accomplish. This model has shifted us to working with those ready to make that move and intentionally build relationship and see results in a gospel movement cohort.

Gospel X

The fourth strategic organization of the ACTS Group was finally activated in 2017. The vision for activated evangelism and gospel sharing has independently stirred through initiatives like Kickstart and a vision of cooperative work with Pulse Movement. Something to look forward to in 2018? The Groundwire initiative Jesus Cares happening in the Spring that effectively reaches millennials through social media.

Convergence "Live" in March focused on the gospel in a pluralistic society (see videos here) and Q Commons in October had the theme of "our complicated moment" and how leading believers are to engage actively and winsomely in our confused culture. Meet Ups after Q Commons were a new feature and Q Community had its first dinner meeting. Something to look forward to in 2018? Gabe and Rebekah Lyons bringing Q to the Jesus Culture Encounter Conference Feb 1-3 in Sacramento

2017 was a year in which many of the core CityPRAYS team members had opportunity to take their heart, passion and ministry into other states and even countries. Prayer Team Development training was initiated and Prayer Leaders Fellowship continued in the first half of the year. Something to look forward to in 2018? The promotion of Seek God for the City to hundreds of congregations as a tool to learn to pray systematically for God's work of salvation in a city

Serve United

The process and progress of activating unified service continued in 2017 through the ongoing establishment of school partnerships, cooperative efforts with Church Volunteer Network and the establishment of a Serve United team with representatives from churches and non-profits committed to collaborative work on issues and causes too big for any one leader, organization or church. Something to look forward to in 2018? Big Day of Service on May 5 that unifies dozens of churches, non-profits, schools and agencies to mobilize believers in Orangevale and Fair Oaks to service.

Yes, the ACTS Group is funded by you

Over the last five and one half years, we have had over 100 individual contributors, 23 churches and several sponsoring businesses for special events like Q Commons that have provided for the work of the ACTS Group. While the shift to fee based services for churches and other organizations was implemented this year, our operational budget of almost $65,000 a year for administrative staff, rent, office services and tech is still supported by charitable contributions and church mission support. If you have given, THANK YOU! If you have not, please choose to give a one time gift now, or become a monthly supporter for any amount here
