SEMS Golden Eagles Weekly Update
August 13th, 2023
Hello Parents!
The time has come! We are so excited to welcome your students back to school on Tuesday, August 15th. Middle School is a unique time in our students lives as they navigate the journey through adolescence. We want you to know that we care about each and every one of your children and are determined that they feel welcomed and belonged here at San Elijo Middle School. We are here for you throughout the year and should any questions arise, please reach out to your child's teacher, counselor, or administration.
Back to School Night is a great way to meet your child's teacher and learn about how to help them be successful this year. Please Save the Date for September 7th (6th graders) and September 14th (7th/8th graders).
Our weekly update will also be regularly updated on our website under 'past communications'.
For more updates, please also follow our PTO on social media (Instagram, Facebook) or through PTO linktree website or SEMS PTO website.

Drop Off/Pick Up
DROP-OFF:
Enter Schoolhouse Way- From the elementary school and following the road down the hill to the middle school. Turn right into the first driveway and follow the arrows to the student drop-off area. Have your child ready to exit your car.
This method allows the student to be dropped off in the safest location, where they will not be exposed to traffic in the parking lot, and can exit the vehicle without crossing in front of other vehicles. **There is NO ENTRY from Elfin Forest.
PICK-UP:
Please pick up students using Schoolhouse Way: After picking your student(s) up, you will be directed back up the hill to San Elijo Rd. This route will ensure a continuous flow of traffic out of the parking lot. *There will be no access to Elfin Forest Road from the parking lot.
Other Helpful Tips:
Schoolhouse Way is designated one-way during drop off and pick up.
Drop off quickly so others don’t have to wait.
Pull to the front of the drop off area.
Parents should never exit the car in the drop off area.
No students are allowed in the parking lot.
Have backpacks in children’s possession and ready to go.
Make pick up arrangements before drop off.
Drop off starts at 7:15 am.
Plan ahead! Leave 5 minutes earlier. The parking lot will be busy!
Say “goodbye” quickly.
Treat staff in the parking lot with respect…model that for your child.
Other 'Back To School' Updates:

W.E.B. Days
It was wonderful to welcome our 6th graders on to campus last Tuesday to participate in our Where Everyone Belongs program! Students engaged in team building, toured the campus, and played games. They left with new friends and an 8th grade mentor!
