Notes & Reminders
- Faculty Meeting Thursday, 9/7 in the cafe @ 3:30pm. NO devices needed! Staff children report to Mrs. Juneau's room to be monitored by Natalie Deylius. :)
- Sub Notebook Check: Notebooks will be checked on September 13 by your grade level/dept admin. The checklist is included in the attachments for your review. Submit your notebook to your chair by 8:00am on 9/13.
- It's been nice to be back outside for recess. However, it is IMPERATIVE that teachers spread out to monitor students while you enjoy the fresh air. Grade chairs, please help communicate this with your teams. Supervision is the #1 key to safety!
- Recess temps: Be sure to check the heat index before taking your classes outside each day.
-
National Weather Service (search for Arlington, TN) @ http://mobile.weather.gov/ should be
utilized as the determining source for temperature, heat index, and wind chill factor verification.
-
When the heat index reaches 100 or above, recess/physical activity should take place in an air-conditioned environment.
-
- The AIMS window will open on Monday, August 28th for students to complete the Fall Benchmark. It will be open through September 8th. Please reach out to Ms. Hizer or Ms. Howard if you have any questions or need support.

Academics
New Instructional Resources in a Classroom: As shared previously, teachers have availability to many HQIMs in their classrooms. If teachers desire to have new instructional resources, please remember that any new instructional resource that a teacher introduces in a classroom after the first day of school must have administrator approval. Teachers should complete this form at the following links below. Please note that if it is a hard copy/paper request, only the principal will approve. If the request is digital, the principal and Mr. Winkler must approve. Mr. Winkler will email the principal directly once the review has been completed and a decision has been made in reference to any new digital instructional resources. The reason that Mr. Winkler must approve is that privacy policies, terms of service have to be reviewed and listed on our website. In addition, the technology department needs to make sure that our iPads can support the request. If you have additional questions, please reach to your instructional supervisors assigned to your school.
Classroom Libraries: Please remember that classroom library scanning will begin on September 05, 2023 and will run through Fall Break in all local schools. Make sure the brightly colored sign are clearly visible in your classrooms. Extra signs will be available in the main office.
2023-2024 ESSER UPDATE: The district is continually seeking public feedback on ESSER 3.0 spending. Students, Parent/Families, Elected Officials/School Board Members, District or School Administrators, Principals, Teachers, School Leaders, Other School or district Staff, Civil Rights Organizations, Disability Rights Organizations, and Community Leaders are encouraged to submit anonymous feedback during the ESSER survey window that will be available Friday, September 1st – September 8th.
- For those interested in sharing the updated ESSER information detailing the remaining funds total, and funding allocations with stakeholders, please print the 2023-2024 ESSER SURVEY FLYER found in OneDrive. Feel free to add the flyer to your parent communication.
- In addition to the survey, stakeholders have the option to complete the “Your Voice Matters” survey cards that are currently at your school location. If you receive completed survey cards, please submit them to Barbara Arnett, Grants Specialist, at Central Office.
Thank you in advance for helping to ensure every voice is heard!
September Kindness Quote: You don’t need a cape to be a hero. You just have to care. – Kid President
ESL Passports: In an effort to increase parent and family engagement with our non-English speaking families, we have created an ACS Family Passport with various ACS school and community activities. Students will have the opportunity to complete activities from 9/5/23 – 12/1/23. Students who complete 7 of the 10 suggested activities will get their passport stamped by the ESL teacher. In the month of December, students will have lunch (an outside vendor) with a friend that is paid by the district. Passports will be given only to ELs, T1s, and T2s. If you have questions, please reach out to Trassey Evans.
PowerSchool: 1st Quarter Interim Reports should be sent home on Wednesday, September 6.
