The Hawk Report
Christa McAuliffe MS Parent Newsletter - Week of March 27th
A Message From Our Principal, Mr. Lemon
Greetings Hawk Nation Parents and Students,
We are back in the groove of things since having a restful Spring Break. Our scholars have come back to campus eager to learn, and our teachers are maximizing every minute available to ensure that they are successful. Keep pushing them at home, and encourage them each day to do their best. STAAR is right around the corner, and the learning they are doing today will definitely benefit them on the exam. They've got this!As we continue our journey into the Spring Semester, we ask that you keep the following important updates in mind:
- Practicing Appropriate Behavior. As we continue into the semester, we ask that you speak with your student(s) and remind them of your expectations for their behavior at school, as well as ours. It is important that students remember to keep their hands and feet to themselves. Failing to do so could result in someone getting hurt, and/or them receiving a consequence. Also, please remind them of the old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Rumors and gossip do nothing but hurt people and cause students not to focus on learning, but on inappropriate interactions amongst their peers. Students should use kind words towards each other, or see a counselor or administrator immediately, if they need assistance.
- Safe Alternatives for Afternoon Pick Up. We have been made aware of various incidents happening within the community, particularly at Jack in the Box. Student safety is our number one priority, however, we cannot manage such when students are being picked up outside of the CMMS campus. We strongly encourage parents to have your student(s) wait at CMMS or The Boys and Girls Club to be picked up. If your student needs tutorials, we offer them almost daily (see teacher schedule below) until 5:20pm. Please consider having your student picked up at a safer alternative than Jack In the Box.
- Term 3 Report Card Grades Posted on Monday, March 21st. Please review your student's Skyward account and make sure that all grades are passing (70 and above). We are encouraging students to strive for A's & B's as we know that our Hawks are more than capable of high academic success. Should you have a question or concern about your student's grade, please contact the classroom teacher.
- Attendance Matters! Each instructional day is filled with new material and additional opportunities for student growth. It is essential that we have our Hawk Scholars in attendance each and every day, for the entirety of the day. Please remember that Texas has a 90% rule that states that a student must be in attendance 90% of the time to receive credit for a course. Should an emergency or illness arise and your student must be out, please be sure to send a note to Ms. Katrina Taylor, CMMS Attendance Clerk, at Katrina.Taylor@fortbendisd.com, so that the absence can be excused.
- The first week back we reviewed our campus expectations to ensure our Hawks continue to be Hawk PROUD. Feel free to review the presentation with your student, and continue to encourage them to make good choices each and every day.
Let's continue to work together, and please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns. Remember, we are Hawk Nation... Hawk Proud!

Mandatory Student IDs Are Here!
Students will be required to visibly display their Student ID badge, on the grade-level colored lanyard provided, around their neck, with the picture clearly visible. They are not allowed to deface the ID in anyway, or else they will need to purchase a new one. Students badges will provide access to the following services within the building:
- Cafeteria meal payments
- Library services
- Entrance to campus events (dances, PBIS events, etc.)
In the event that a student reports to school without his/her ID, they will receive a temporary wristband upon entry into the building. After receiving 3 temporary wristbands, students will be required to purchase a new badge for $5.00. ID fees can be paid via RevTrak.
Should you have any questions regarding ID badges, please contact Mr. Brandon Woodard, Assistant Principal, at Brandon.Woodard@fortbendisd.com.
