Have a Great Summer!
It’s hard to believe that our school year is just about over. How quickly the time has flown by. While this year has been filled with ups, downs, challenges and obstacles – in the end we have come through with with our students succeeding. We could not be more proud of the wonderful school community we have and look forward to even better things next year. Thanks to all who have contributed to our successes this year – it is our students who have truly benefited!
Reminder:
Friday, June 17th (last day of school) is a day designated by FCPS as a 2-hour early dismissal for all students. That means that at approximately 1:30 p.m. we will begin our dismissal procedure. Please be sure that you have this date noted on your calendar. Remember, if you would like to change your child’s dismissal procedure for this day, we must have a note from you stating the change. Thanks for your help.

Thank you, Volunteers!
We would like to thank every person who volunteered time at Centerville Elementary this school year. Our staff is very appreciative of the time given. Volunteers make a huge difference and we could not have had as successful a school year without your help! We are looking forward to next year!

Summer Learning: What Parents Can Do
Here are some suggestions for ways to help your child to have fun while learning this summer:
If you are the parent of an elementary school student:
· Encourage reading. Visit the library together and let your child pick out stories or books to read. Schedule time to read together. Show your child that your enjoy reading for pleasure.
· Help your child plant a garden or a window box. Let your child pick the seeds or seedlings and read the instructions. Set up a chart for care of the plants.
Do some exploring while you’re having a picnic or at the beach. Help your child examine rocks, leaves, insects, shells or fish. Visit the Zoo, the Aquarium, or the Science Center.
