Blue Team Math
8th grade math and algebra 1
In algebra
There will be an opportunity to remediate and retest for those who did not score as well. I will discuss this in class on Tuesday also.
After going over the chapter one test on Tuesday, we will begin work on chapter two - Solving Equations. I have a concern for those who did not do well on the Foundations of Algebra test in that you may not be ready for solving equations. If the work required from the Foundations of Algebra chapter was too difficult, you need to speak to me about going into pre-algebra (8th grade math). It will be much more beneficial to get a strong foundation in pre-algebra than to struggle through algebra, not earn the grade of a B and have to take algebra 1 all over again as a freshman.
For those of you with a MAP score under 240, algebra is going to be a class that you are going to have to study for and this may be the first time you have to study for a math class! For your thoughts, the MAP scores in our class range from 231 - 258. Just something to think about.

After going over the test on Tuesday, we will begin our unit on Transformations which should last about two to three weeks.
There are still a few of you that have not gotten your book form signed so you may take a book home (I have given you at least two forms!). Please do this as soon as possible. You will need your book at home to complete homework for this upcoming unit.
