Knightly Update January 29, 2023
ACP High School - Edition Vol 2 Issue 26
________________________________________
Hello. It was a busy week at ACP working with students to discuss, answer questions and confirm course requests for the upcoming school year. We will continue working on the registration process with the rest of our students in the upcoming days. I want to thank Ms. Osborn and our counseling team for their work to get our underclassmen scheduled for the upcoming year.
Our winter sport teams wrap up their regular season this week and begin preparing for upcoming state tournament play. If you haven't had an opportunity to see our winter athletes in action, come on out this week and cheer them on. If you were not at Thursday’s varsity boys basketball game, you missed an amazing game - not to mention the fantastic back handsprings of our cheer squad. Down two points with 2.6 seconds remaining in overtime, your Knights passed the ball the length of the court and senior Jonathan Kearney made a game winning 3-point bucket at the buzzer beating Eastmark HS, 58-57. It was an incredible evening and a win that I'll certainly remember. Then on Friday, our girls wrestling team finished in second place in our school's wrestling tournament, the Knight Invitational with Willow Arnold and Christina Chavez being crowned tournament champions in their weight class. It is incredible to see how much girls wrestling has grown in just one year and I am very proud of the ladies that represent our school on the mat. Check out our school's various social media platforms to see the amazing highlights of our ACP students as they participate in various activities and extracurriculars. Great job, everyone!
As shared above, we continue meeting with students to go over their course requests for the 23-24 school year. Additional information is also included below in this week's update. It is important that students come prepared to these meetings with their registration form and preferred courses entered in Infinite Campus. We want to spend our time answering their questions while making sure the courses they selected are appropriate for the upcoming year and aligned with future aspirations. As a reminder, no course request changes will be granted after March 10th. It is imperative students choose their courses carefully are willing to be enrolled courses selected in the event their primary choice is not honored (generally speaking, this impacts elective choices more often than core content). Again, no changes will be made after March 10th. Thank you for making note of this deadline.
Last week, I discussed the frustration we and many of you are experiencing with families not following the established procedures for student drop-off. A suggestion was made to consider asking if any parents might be interested in helping to monitor the drop off area since we have almost 3 miles of road running through our school's property. If you would be interested in serving in this capacity, please email Mrs. Wilson. Once we determine if anyone is willing to help in this way, additional information will be sent to those individuals. Thank you for sharing your ideas to help us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
I hope you have a nice week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Thank you for supporting ACP High! Take care.
Rob Bickes
Principal

23-24 Course Registration
Hello ACP Families! Registration time has begun!! Counselors are busy every hour of each day, meeting with groups of students to go over registration, hand out the form, and answer questions. A few important things to know:
Students need to complete their registration form in the next few weeks. This is the best way to prepare for the upcoming 1:1 meeting they will have with a counselor.
Many questions can be answered by watching the videos that we are showing the students. These are available on the ACP Counseling Webpage, under Registration: https://www.cusd80.com/Page/116247
Write all additional questions on the purple form. We will meet with students and address these questions. Please do not email the counselor your questions.
We will host parent workshops in February. Sign ups will be coming out soon! If you sign up to attend a parent workshop and meet with a counselor, please have a copy of your student’s registration form.
Yes, students must ALSO complete the online registration through Infinite campus. Directions are in the videos. This is to ensure that we have the appropriate numbers for classes and staffing for next year.
