KEEPING YOU CONNECTED...
Happy New Year! We hope you all enjoyed Winter Break and are ready for the spring semester! As a District, we will continue to share reminders, updates, and successes monthly to keep you connected.
Thank you for taking the time to stay connected!
A Message From Our Superintendent, Dr. Angi Williams..
Each January is designated Board Appreciation Month in Galena Park ISD. This month-long celebration of Board service cannot begin to adequately spotlight the excellent efforts of our School Board on behalf of all District stakeholders.
Public service is essential to provide needed advocacy and representation of citizens throughout our state and nation. In Galena Park ISD, we are blessed with a dedicated Board of Trustees who serve the interests of students, educators, employers and taxpayers in the communities that make up our school district. The Board tirelessly serves in numerous ways, including monthly meetings, ceremonial duties, approval of policies and evaluation of the Superintendent of Schools.
Please join me in saying, “Thank You,” to these dedicated public servants, not just in this month designated to acknowledge their efforts, but throughout the months and years they give to support Excellence in Galena Park ISD.
Congratulations to the North Shore Mustangs for being named the 6A Division I State Champions

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow
Every winter, bad weather such as snow, slush, freezing temperatures or heavy rains can present challenges to getting children to school. So do the colds, fevers and earaches that often come with the winter months. These absences, even if they are excused, can add up to academic trouble. If it is a snowy or rainy day but school is still open, students miss out on learning if they aren’t in class.
There’s not much we can do about the weather, but there are steps every family can take to help avoid absences this year. Develop back up plans for getting your children to school. That could mean checking with other families who have a vehicle that can manage the weather conditions. You can also help keep your children healthy by dressing them warmly for the cold weather and encouraging them to wash their hands regularly. If your children do get sick, talk to a doctor or the school nurse about whether they should come to school and when it is okay for them to return.
Above all, let us know how we can help. We want your children and all our students to succeed and that means attending school every day possible.
Remember, students who Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow. Don’t let absences add up.
