Book Fair Starts Next Week!
We will begin BOOK FAIR sales next Thursday evening (Sept. 7th) during our Curriculum Night, 5:30-7:00! The Book Fair will then remain open through Friday, Sept. 15th, until 3:30 daily!
What Are We Learning?
- Sight word- "we"
- Poem- We Can.
- Reading- Student routines for Reader's Workshop. Making connections to stories read.
- Word Study- rhyming words.
- Writing to share.
- Math- read, write and represent numbers 0-5 with objects.
- Science- simple investigations and communicating observations.
- Social Studies- tools used to determine location, map, globe.

McKinney ISD Phonograms
Every kindergarten teacher uses this in their classrooms. We review the various letter sounds that each letter makes. Some letters have more than one sound. This is something that your child can do at home on the computer, tablet, or phone. Please see the link below.
Important Reminders about Kindergarten
- Check red folders daily and return the next day.
- Secure lunch money or checks for purchases in the red folder.
- In case there is a change of transportation for the day, email and call the office. (Make sure you have done both in case your teacher is out and is not available to check email).
- Send your child in appropriate clothing for the weather.
- Send an extra change of clothes so that you will not have to leave work in the event that your child does not make it to the restroom in time.

How To Help Your Child Have a Successful Year
- Make sure your child is on time.
- Check behavior folder each night.
- Communicate with your child's teacher. No question is too small.
- Read with your child each night. Discuss the story, be enthusiastic about reading. If you like reading, your child will like reading. You are their first teacher!
- Be involved and come to Curriculum Night!
