ARGYLE HIGH SCHOOL - ACADEMIC UIL TEAMS LEAD THE WAY
Argyle students met up against some solid competition this past weekend in Austin and is currently in the lead in the academic meet standings with 179.5 pts. The academic meet championship will not be finalized until after the speaking events on May 21st & 22nd. Please congratulate the following state medalists and their coaches on an excellent finish to their 2018 season!
Accounting Team (Sarah Hand, Maddie Hermann, Blaze McMellian, Gracie Williams)
2nd in state (less than 100 pts behind 1st place Atlanta)
Maddie Hermann - 4th individual
Sarah Hand - 5th individual
Calculator Team (T. Davis, Audrey Livingston, Brandon White, Jack Young)
1st in state (27 pts over 2nd team Abilene Wylie with 1 point separating 2nd team from 3rd team, Bridge City)
Jack Young - tied for 1st
Brandon White - 5th
Documentary Film - 3rd in state (this event was completed earlier)

Math Team (Matthew Darnell, Kunal Gahlawat, Andrew Hennes, Nicholas Mohar)
1st in state (less than 50 pts over 2nd team Salado)

Number Sense Team (Kunal Gahlawat, Shivani Gandhi, Nicholas Mohar, Ryan Ross)
1st in state (less than 50 pts over 2nd team Hirschi)
Nicholas Mohar - 1st individual with meet high score in all classifications
Ryan Ross - 4th
Science Team (Matthew Darnell, Michael Gilbert, Andrew Hennes, Nicholas Mohar)
1st in state (20 pts over 2nd team La Feria)
Andrew Hennes - 1st overall with meet high score in all classifications,
as well as 1st place biology, 2nd place chemistry, and 1st place physics
Nicholas Mohar - 5th overall
Spelling Team (Natalie Brown, Ella Cate, Jennie Knuppel, Grace Laws)
3rd in state

AHS JOURNALISM STUDENTS TAKE TOP HONORS AT UIL CONTEST
Please congratulate the following students on their awards at the state UIL/ILPC meet this past weekend. For the UIL portion, those points count towards the UIL Academic state meet and Sarah Berney took home the first state championship in school history for journalism headline writing.
The ILPC (Interscholastic League Press Conference), students submit their best work in print, photograph and video for the year. This year, we took home a first in school history "Tops in Texas" for video, which is a compilation of all the student's work in that field, and we took home 12 gold, 9 silver, 7 bronze, and 3 Honorable Mentions.
