One Week out from STAAR!
This can be a very hard time for our STAAR-level students especially. Anxiety increases, behaviors increase, disagreements increase. Help our STAAR students know this test, while important to measure what they know, does not determine who they are or who they will be. Help keep their stress levels down by putting it into perspective- we are working hard, and this test will show what you know, just try your best, and the rest will fall into place. Be zen. :)
STAAR Banner Voting Starts Monday!
STAAR Buddies: Remember to deliver your STAAR treats and motivations to your 4th and 5th grade STAAR classes by Monday, April 8. 3rd grade is not on this first round.
- 4th Grade has Writing STAAR on Tuesday April 9
- 5th grade has Math STAAR on Tuesday April 9 and Reading STAAR on Wednesday April 10

Coach Dale is our Comet of the Week!
Mrs. Astorga shared:
It is very hard to nominate just “ONE” person to be Comet of the Week because everyone at Chancellor is amazing! I would like to nominate Coach Dale. Coach Dale welcomes students daily with a smile and no matter what mood the kids are in they smile back and start their day positively.
Our students always look forward to Coach Dale’s given motivation, step-by step directions, step-by-step modeling of the activity, and the easy flow of the fun activities planned from preparation to clean-up time. He is assertive and caring when he addresses students that are struggling, they love to go to PE!
Coach Dale has earned a jeans pass, snack shack coupon, and the chance to nominate the next Comet of the Week! Please show some support and write Coach Dale a thank you from the COW board by the workroom.
Our Chancellor Picnic is April 12th!
Donations: We are in need of individual chip bags, cookies, water bottles, and soda cans. For every donation, you get a jeans pass! Start counting up the days left, so you can accumulate a nice amount of passes for the last couple months of school (don't count the last week of school though, as we usually make that a jeans week). Donations need to be labeled with your name, and Lisa will have a list in her office you can write you name and donation on.
April is Autism Awareness Month
Help us raise awareness by wearing blue on April 2nd, which is World Autism Awareness Day. Across the world, buildings will "Light it up Blue" to participate. Then on Wednesdays throughout April, wear a blue shirt or an Autism Awareness shirt with jeans as a way to raise awareness all month long. If you want to learn more, talk to our special education teachers about what it means for our students who are on the autism spectrum, and find out what you can do to help. Every year we have more students who qualify with this disability, so it is important we all understand what we can do to support these students to be successful here at Chancellor. If you would like to support students in your class next year, please let Lisa know.
