Message from Mr. Dahlberg, Dean of Students
Hello families! I always find Advent and Lent to be times for reflection. Advent has always been a time for me to reflect on the joys of my life while Lent seems to be a time to reflect on what I have done to move away from God and my family. During discipleship for the 3rd quarter we have been praying with the story, “The Woman at the Well”. During our time together, I have touched on something that may be helpful to keep in mind as we progress through Lent. Jesus isn’t at the well by chance. He knows this woman is going to be at the well and He reveals himself to her, a sinner. Just like her, He is at the well for us. He is always willing to give us living water that is a “spring within us welling up to eternal life”.(Jn 4: 14) This is a time for us to sit down as a family and decide what it is we can do to align ourselves with Christ. Perhaps it is a dedication to family prayer. Perhaps it is sacrificing time alone for game night together. Whatever it is, know that we are not perfect and at times, we will fail. We are blessed to have a Lord that is always waiting for us at the well.

Advisory
We continue our Character Strong program with all students with the addition of Discipleship Fridays when students are in their small mixed-grade level groups for discussion and activities. This important program helps us to meet the social/emotional learning that all students need. If you have questions or would like more information, please call Mrs. Kalaus.
Career Lessons
Eighth graders will begin their annual career lessons next week. Mrs. Kalaus will go into core classrooms six times in the next nine weeks to discuss career exploration with students. Each eighth grader will receive log-in information for a site called NAVIANCE which will aid in this unit. On that site, students will take a personality survey as well as an interest inventory, both of which will match them to potential career areas of interest.
Protecting God’s Children
The mandated diocesan lessons for Virtus training and education of children is now complete. If you would like to review these lessons with your child you can access them here.
