Principal Cassidy's Corner
As we get settled in to the school routine again, I encourage you to talk with your student about setting goals for this semester. What successes do you hope to continue achieving? What are some opportunities for improvement? Communicating your expectations for what success at school looks and feels like to you and your family is important for students of this age. School is their "job" right now and we are building foundations for success in high school and beyond. Although our teachers and staff communicate our expectations and hopes regularly, it is also critical for students to know what their family wants and expects as well.
If you need assistance navigating the resources available to you to support your child's success at school, please reach out. We will connect you with staff who can answer questions and direct you to available supports.
I look forward to a great semester!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Cassidy, Principal
Semester 1 Report Cards Issued January 10
Middle school students must pass courses with a yearly average of at least 70%. Students who fell below academic goals in semester 1 can still pass courses for the year. For example, if a student finished with a 65% in the course for semester 1, a grade of at least 75% will be necessary in semester 2 to pass for the year.
Middle school students enrolled in high-school credit courses will have the opportunity to accept or decline the grade/credit for their high school transcript in May. More information will be shared with impacted students and parents in the spring.
Questions about your child's performance in a class should first be directed to the teacher.
Please remind students to charge laptops daily!
The Deadline for Fulton County Schools Hardship Transfer Application is Feb. 28, 2023
Applications are available beginning January 1, 2023 for parents who wish to apply for a 2023-24 hardship transfer or to renew a current hardship to another Fulton County Schools (FCS) elementary, middle or high school.
Parents will use an online form, available through the school system’s website, to enter and submit their information. Hard copy applications are not required, with the exception of medical transfers which require pertinent medical provider’s signatures and documentation.
The deadline for submitting a transfer application is Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, by 4:30 p.m., with no exceptions or extensions granted. All requests must be received or postmarked by this date and time. In addition, school system employees who have children receiving an employee hardship transfer must renew their request.
The February 28 deadline applies to students and parents seeking a hardship transfer for medical reasons, curriculum differences, and child care situations or for employees’ children.
Schools participating in open enrollment, a separate transfer process that allows students to move to a school with available space, will be announced in early May.
Parents with questions or who need more information about hardship transfers can contact the FCS’ Student Assignment Office at 470-254-5550 or visit https://www.fultonschools.org/hardshiptransfers.

Roswell Roots: Inspired, a Student Art Exhibit
The Roswell Roots Art Exhibit will take place February 1- March 10 to celebrate Black History Month . Three of our talented 8th grade Hawks (Holly Gravitt, Kaitlyn Allen and Clara Vargas) created a beautiful large canvas art piece honoring Ketanji Onyika Brown Jackson, an American jurist who is the first Black woman to serve as a Supreme Court Justice.
Our school’s canvas will be displayed in Roswell City Hall beginning February the 1st through March the 10th. All families and community members are invited to visit the exhibit created by our Roswell students!
