December 2017 Newsletter
A Message from the APHS Leadership Team:
We will soon close out the year of 2017, and we aim to finish this month with reflection on how we've progressed thus far in the school year. We congratulate all those who earned honor and high honor rolls (click here for the list of students: https://goo.gl/KWAbtX). We are proud of those who have earned this distinction, and look forward to continued academic achievements and improvements for all of our students. We also congratulate our scholar-athletes - all of our Fall varsity teams earned the recognition of the NYSPHSAA as Scholar-Athlete teams, and we are proud of you both on and off the field for the dedication and hard work shown. Last, but certainly not least, we recognize the accomplishments of Off Broadway Players, our Music program, and all other student leaders who participate in our extra-curricular programs. This Fall, we had a fantastic play ("It's a Wonderful Life"), a beautifully performed Winter Concert, and a series of fundraisers and events to support our community led by our student groups. The achievements of our APHS community certainly make us reflect on how positive our school is and will continue to grow.
As the second quarter interim period is drawing near, please continue to monitor attendance in school, along with academic progress, and encourage students to stay after school for extra help when arranged with a teacher. The Library is open after school for students who need time to complete assignments and study, and the BEST program is available to all students at the Sand Lake Town Library.
A change that you'll need to be aware of is that report cards will no longer be emailed, but instead accessed through SchoolTool. If you have not set up your SchoolTool account, or have forgotten your log in information, please contact the Counseling Office for support.

Mrs. Klepsch's English 10 classes are collecting items for rescue dogs and cats to help the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
We are collecting the following items:
- dry and canned food
- toys
-treats

Let's give these puppies and kittens something to bark and meow about! Let's help our furry friends have a great holiday season before they find their forever home. Please drop off your donation before the holiday break, labeled for Room 208.
APHS Student Government Teams up with Toys for Tots
Student Government is teaming up once again with Toys for Tots this Holiday Season in memory of Abigail Dutcher, Class of 2013. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program collects new, unwrapped toys to be distributed as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the communities in which the campaign is conducted.
The High School will be collecting new, unwrapped toys through Friday, December 15th. Our goal this year is to fill five boxes. Please feel free to send in a gift with your child or drop it off in the high school main office or district office.
Thank you for helping us support Toys for Tots this Holiday Season.
