Schewe Speech
Happy Winter Break,
It amazes me that winter break is upon us. Winter Break is intended to allow us to slow down, enjoy time with our loved ones, and recharge our batteries before starting a new year. Take this time to recharge as a family.
This week, we will focus on making memories as a Hanna Woods Family. We will post our staff and students making memories using the hashtag #hannamemories. So, as you are making memories as a family over the break, I ask you to tag us in #hannamemories.
This will be my last newsletter of 2022. I wish you and your families a happy and safe winter break!
A kick-off to Winter Break Fun December 19th - 22nd
Monday, December 19th: Classes will "build snowmen" on their classroom doors. Be on the lookout on social media for images of each class snowman.
Tuesday, December 20th: Sprinkle the building with kindness! Students can wear bright colors or a shirt with a positive message. During the school day, students will make kindness snowflakes.
Wednesday, December 21st: Wear your plaid or stripes. Students will be warming their hearts by filling their gratitude mugs.
Thursday, December 22nd: The colder weather brings many opportunities to cozy up with a great book. Students and staff will read a good book while sitting by the "fire." School-wide PJ or cozy attire. Students should also bring a good book to read.
Nurse's Notes
For the health of your child, other students, and school staff, it is important to know when your child should stay home due to illness.
Students should stay home if they have had any of the following symptoms:
- fever of 100.4 or higher in the past 24 hours
- vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
- bad cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- sore throat, with fever or swollen glands in the neck
- symptoms of being sick such as being unusually tired, fussy, pale or had difficulty waking
- undiagnosed rash that is accompanied by fever or itching
If your child has strep throat or another bacterial infection, he/she should stay home until the antibiotic has been given for at least 24 hours and your health care provider has given permission for your child to return to school. We encourage you to seek medical attention when your child is sick and to follow your health care provider's recommendations about returning to school and other social activities. Masks and personal water bottles are encouraged for students with cough or that are returning from a bout of Influenza, Flu, or Covid.
Stay safe and healthy,
