Mrs. Turley's Tidbits
Week of 5/29 - 6/2
From May to June!!
Literacy:
We had fun reading Ibis, a true story! We did a fun story board on it and cool Spouting Off About Whales activity! It used headings and pictures to tell all about whales! We sure hoped you learned about Ibis at home too. We also read, Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie! Abbie was such an inspirational character and we talked about what made her a hero and inspiring! We also hoped you liked hearing that story too!
Math:
We decided to teach the 2nd graders how to use a calculator and have fun with it since we finished all our units! Hooray! We had a great time learning the calculator keys and familiarized ourselves with the buttons! We had a great time!
Writing:
We are having a blast working on our 2nd grade memory book! It will be something to cherish and hold on to throughout the years!
Fun Events this week:
Our Walk for Hunger was really fun and we had perfect weather for it! The students loved walking with their friends!
On Wednesday afternoon, we also played science games which our 5th Grade Buddies in Mrs. Nickels' room made! The games were really fun and the 5th graders did an amazing job creating them and explaining them to us !
Field Day is Friday (tomorrow)! Remember to dress comfortably tomorrow and wear gym shoes.
On June 5th, we will be walking to release our tadpoles at the lake. If it rains, we will go on June 6th!
Report cards will be coming home on June 6th in a manila envelope. Please check for it. There will be a summer packet with fun work in there for your students. Also, don't forget to sign up for the Woodridge Public Library Reading Program (it's free)!
Please have your students bring their backpack on the last day of school! There will be lots of fun items coming home (class books, free give-aways from our classroom) and I want to make sure they have a place to put them.
Thanks to all of you for helping make this school year so wonderful and successful! We couldn't have done it without you.
It's been a very special and endearing "last" year and I couldn't have asked for a more special and endearing class and group of families to spend it with than all of you! I hope to visit Meadowview often and stay connected to the children and families that have made a place in my heart forever!
Enjoy a safe and super SUMMER!
Warmest wishes,
Rosemary
