Reminders about daily PE
Typically our class begins with a 3-8 minute jog followed by strength and flexibility exercises. 1st - 4th will begin unit activities such as throwing, catching, jump roping, striking, movement education, kicking, punting and more. 5th graders will do more team and individual activities such as archery, volleyball, basketball, rec games, ping pong, badminton and other sports.

Fitness Testing begins this week!
We are fitness testing students 3 times this year and the results will go home along with an explanation of the parameters. Today through next week's testing will give us accurate baseline scores so that we can help students set goals for the year. We will test again in the winter and spring.
The fitness tests include:
1) Curl-ups (1 minute with feet held)
2) Flexed arm hang
3) Shuttle Run
4) Hamstring Stretch
5) The Mile Run (2nd -5th)
6) Push-ups (# completed)
7) 15 Minute Jog (1st grade)
