Message from Mrs. Ahles, Middle School Principal
During the winter months, our kids tend to experience a growth spurt, which means that their fall shorts and skirts may no longer meet the school dress code. We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that your child's clothing meets the dress code standards. By doing so, we can avoid having to call you in the morning to bring a change of clothes for your son or daughter during the school day. Thank you for your cooperation!
- Dress / cargo / khaki/ shorts to the top of the knee or longer, or capris, may be worn during September, May and June. This is for both boys and girls.
- Girls may wear skirts or dresses with short or long sleeves. Dresses and skirts must be to the top of the knee or longer. Sleeveless dresses may only be worn with a cardigan or knit sweater over the top.
- The neckline of the dress must be to the collarbone or higher.
Message from Mrs. Kalaus, Guidance Counselor
Advisory/Character Strong
We are beginning the sessions in Character Strong that ask students to look back at all the things they have learned and practiced this year. Just a reminder of the three goals of the program; 1. To increase and support student well-being and mental health; 2. To increase the feeling of safety and belonging in school; 3. To increase how much students care about and engage in school and the world around them. When you reinforce the skills that are practiced in our Character Strong sessions, you help with all those goals! It truly is a partnership with home and school.
8th Grade Naviance
Eighth grade career lessons are now complete. Students may continue to access their NAVIANCE accounts throughout the summer to further explore career options and look at the results of the assessments done this year. Parents may even be interested in exploring the college information with your child. It may seem early, but beginning this summer, any volunteering, leadership or extra-curriculars can be added to their high school involvement list, which will help with future college applications. Also, there is a volunteer requirement each year at the high school, so keep track now! Any parent with questions should reach out to Mrs. Kalaus at mkalaus@smcatholicschools.org .
