Earth Day Around the World!
How is earth day celebrated around the world?
Earth day, a day dedicated to supporting environmental protection, is celebrated all around the world on April 22nd. Besides the U.S., a lot of other countries, regions and cultures celebrate earth day, and each has their own traditions and celebrations. Japan is (one) great example, the Japanese take earth day very seriously, and they show their respect for the earth on that day by organizing a 2 day gathering in Yoyogi Park that draws more than 100,000 people to the event every year. Another country that doesn’t come short in their ways to show appreciation to earth is India. On earth day, India citizens dress in green, and host many activities, a popular one being preserving the Asian Elephant, which was once prevalent in the animal population in India, but is now endangered. Switzerland also celebrates earth day by hosting a “green sale”, an organic food sale that helps raise money for planting trees at schools. In Moldova, Chișinău (the capital), a local organization, “Gutta-Club'', is planning to host a bunch of activities in 30 villages, the activities will be anything from trash clean ups to planting trees and building nesting boxes for birds. The Philippines also participates in earth day, by hosting the Earth Day Run, one of the biggest and most anticipated runs in the country, this race features a bunch of different runs, 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K categories, encouraging all levels to partake in this race. Israel also makes sure to contribute to earth day, every year, all the towns and villages in Israel host many little local events and gatherings to plant trees and flowers. Earth day has a lot of significance everywhere, and everyone has their own way to shower the earth with love. How will you celebrate Earth day this year?Pela Phone Cases
