THE LEADER IN ME BOOK STUDY

The Leader in Me is written by Stephen Covey and Sean Covey and based on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. This book will not only help us learn to "hone" leadership skills in our students and school, but also ourselves.

If you are interested in being part of this book study, please let me know by Friday, January 8th. I will then get a book to you so that you can read the first and second chapter in order for you to be prepared for our first meeting at the Essen Haus on Tuesday February 9th from 4:30-6 p.m. This will be a good time to get together informally and have a discussion with your colleagues about "honing your leadership skills." The only thing it will cost you is dinner.

IREAD TEACHERS

We are in need of more teachers for IRead club. The club starts on January 25th and runs from 3-4 pm Monday-Thursday. If you are interested in one of these positions or would like more information, please see Randy.

Note: Even if you are not a current 3rd grade teacher, please consider helping our 3rd grade students with this very important task. We use LLI Lessons that are already pre-written to help support our students during this time so this will help minimize the planning piece. Additionally, you could also "pair" with someone in the building and split the time ( 2 days and 2 days or 1 day and 3 days based on your availability and time).

STRATEGIC PLANNING

For the past several months, a strategic planning committee has been working on the mission and vision for GCS. The goal is to have a 10 year plan in place that identifies who we are, where we have been, and where we are going.

Dr. Woodworth has scheduled several TENTATIVE meeting locations to update all of you on our progress that we have made over the past several months. We still have quite a bit of work left to do but communicating our progress with all of GCS is vital for us to continue to get insight and suggestions for OUR vision.

Below are the dates/places for these meetings. I would highly encourage you to attend one of these so you can be updated on this important process. (If these dates/places change, I will be sure to let you know).

January 27 @ 7:30 a.m. @ GHS

January 27 @ 3:15 p.m. @ Parkside

January 28 @ 7:30 a.m. @ GMS

January 28 @ 3:15 p.m. @ Admin. Center in the Board Room

TLT Update

The TLT Members will be meeting with their assigned "follow up" teachers this week to share building and individual TELL Survey Goals for 2016. The TLT will also be focusing on "follow up" this week in TLT and how they can best support you as you work to implement the Close Reading Strategy.
