Staffing
Our Year 3 class teacher Miss Shaw has left the school today to pursue an alternative career. We thank her for her efforts during her short time at South Milford and wish her every success in the future.
After half term, Mrs Darbyshire will be teaching Year 3 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays with Mrs Soane (whom the children met for a day last week) teaching on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
While it is preferable for staffing changes to be limited to the summer break, the reality of life, as I am sure you will appreciate, is that it does not always work out like that.
Rest assured, our priority is the wellbeing and educational needs of our children at all times.
In recent years there have been more staff changes than either I or the school governors would ideally have liked. While it would not be appropriate to discuss the individual cases here, the reasons have been many and varied.
It is our goal to create and develop the strongest possible team of teaching staff to give your children a fantastic primary education and whole-school experience. That certainly remains the case now and we make no apology for explicitly setting out such ambitions.
Dino Man!
Reception and Year 3 enjoyed their visitor, Josh, who shared lots of information about Dinosaurs to support their curriculum! The children asked lots of questions and listened really well to be able to find out lots of facts about dinosaurs they hadn’t heard of before.
Half Term
School will close at 3:15pm on Friday 14th February and re-open on Monday 24th February
Sports Hall Athletics
We are very proud of the 24 year 5/6 children who represented South Milford at the level 2 sportshall athletics event. Overall children performed with skill and tenacity in both field and track events. South Milford won out of the six teams competing. They were an impressive 35 points ahead of Brotherton who placed second.
The team will now represent Selby district in the level 3 final. Bring it on!
