What's Happening at School?
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Community Schools
Adult Learners
On Tuesday, April 17, the Graettinger-Terril and Ruthven-Ayrshire teachers and paraeducators gathered at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger for a day of learning. Dr. Jean Anastasio and David Perry delivered the lesson to teachers on consistent and positive classroom management, classroom instructional techniques, and productive time on task. Due to the weather, day 2 of the training will be rescheduled for the fall.
Dr. Ryan Wise, Iowa Director of Education
The Graettinger-Terril and Ruthven-Ayrshire Schools had the honor of a visit from Dr. Ryan Wise. Dr. Wise visited with students and staff, toured the building, and asked questions. He decided to visit after hearing that GT/RA were selected for the AIR Case Study on the implementation of the Teacher Leadership Program. He was impressed with the collaboration between the districts to provide a good education for our students.

Foods Class Learns About Health Inspection
The area health inspector visited the high school foods class to tell them about the career and healthy habits around food. He answered questions about his job and the path that led him to his career.
High School Health Class
Mr. Boe's health class designed posters, presentation, or videos on taking care of wounds and injuries.
Math at GT/RA
Students are taken through the progress of learning math through concrete, visual, and abstract math. Students first model the actions of math. After physical modeling, they then begin to count before relying on number facts to solve problems. Using number facts to solve problems is developed through number sense and properties of operations.

The Spanish 1 students created family trees written in Spanish. Then they shared the information about their family speaking fluent Spanish.

Chemistry with Mrs. Beisell
Reaction Stoichiometry and Percent Yield was a lab that the RA junior class participated in chemistry class. Students heated material in beakers to find the amount of copper in the material.
