Middle School Newsletter
April 2022
From the Principal:
Dear Parents,
Thirty weeks of this academic year is around the corner. Student third quarter report cards will be available on the Schooltool portal on April 18th. A number of events are planned as we move toward the end of the year - please remind your student to stay focused and engaged. We appreciate the community support of our students. Happy Spring!
John E. Fulmer, Principal
Williamson Middle School
From the Assistant Principal:
Greetings from the Assistant Principal,
The past two years have taught us how important school and the school community is to our young people. Students look forward to the routine and stability that school provides. As we (hopefully) return to a more normal existence, we look to move beyond daily routine and stability. It is our goal to build back our annual traditions and events that make the Middle School experience a special time.
Ms Oliver is leading the charge to restore the PRIDE race. Those students who wish to participate in the race will run a one mile race around the Middle School and Elementary School. The race emphasizes those critical PRIDE philosophy components of perseverance, responsibility and excellence. It also teaches sportsmanship and builds a sense of togetherness. We believe the race will take place on June 10th. Come join us if you would like the fun and excitement. More details will follow.
The Middle School will also host the annual Awards Ceremony on June 22nd. This is an opportunity to recognize our young people for their hard work and success. Our Awards Ceremony will be followed by the 8th grade annual trip to SeaBreeze!
We hope that everyone has a safe and happy spring break. We will return refreshed and ready for the home stretch of the 2021-2022 school year!
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email or call at (315) 589-9665.
Kathryn Taylor
Middle School Assistant Principal
From the Health Office:
Dear Parent/Guardian:
The district’s School Health Services program supports your student’s academic success by promoting health in the school setting. One way that we provide care for your student is by performing the health screenings as mandated by the State of New York.
During this school year, the following screenings will be required or completed at school:
Vision
Distance and near acuity for all newly entering students and students in Pre-K or Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11.
Color perception screening for all newly entering students.
Hearing
Hearing screening for all newly entering students and students in Pre-K or Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11.
Scoliosis
Scoliosis (spinal curvature) screening for all girls in grades 5 and 7, and boys in grade 9.
A letter will be sent home if your student needs follow-up with your healthcare provider. For vision screenings only, parents will be notified of all results. Please call the school’s Health Office if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you
Lynn Wersinger, LPN
Williamson Middle School Health Office
