Christmas Program: "On Our Way to Bethlehem"

Corpus Christi Catholic School’s Annual Christmas Program, “On Our Way to Bethlehem” is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 p.m. All students in grades kindergarten through fifth and drama students will participate. Students are asked to report to their homerooms by 6:00 p.m. This performance is considered a major grade for music and drama class.

Please reach out to Ms. Hanovich, mhanovich@corpuschristihouston.org, with any questions. We look forward to your entire family joining us for this presentation.

COSTUMES

Kindergarten class will be playing the role of sheep. The drama department will supply the costume, but we ask that each child wear a black shirt with long sleeves and either black pants, socks, leggings or tights under the costume.

1st Graders will be angels with wings. Costumes can be purchased from any costume store such as Party City, Target or Walmart. The drama department will provide the halos.

2nd Graders will be barnyard animals such as donkeys, cows, goats, chickens, doves, etc. Their costumes may be made of pillow cases (holes on the sides for arms and on the enclosed top, a hole for the head). Please have them wear long pants or leggings the same color of the animal they select. Animal headbands or masks are okay. Socks should be the color of the costume.

3rd Graders will be shepherds. Costumes may be purchased at any costume store such as Party City, Target or Walmart. Students should wear a robe tied at the waist and a cloth on their heads tied with a scarf.

4th and 5th Graders will be townspeople. They are asked to wear Biblical-type robes with ties around the waist and cloths with ties around their heads; all of which may be worn over regular clothing.

Drama students will wear costumes from the wardrobe of the Drama Department.

Advent

Beginning the Church's liturgical year, Advent (from, "ad-venire" in Latin or "to come to") is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas.

The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas. The final days of Advent, from December 17 to December 24, focus particularly on our preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of our Lord (Christmas).

We wish you the very best this Advent season!
