Morning Hymn

BY: CHARLES WESLEY

Morning Hymn

Christ, whose glory fills the skies,

Christ, the true, the only light,

Sun of Righteousness, arise,

Triumph o’er the shades of night:

Day-spring from on high, be near:

Day-star, in my heart appear.

Dark and cheerless is the morn

Unaccompanied by thee,

Joyless is the day’s return,

Till thy mercy’s beams I see;

Till thy inward light impart,

Glad my eyes, and warm my heart.

Visit then this soul of mine,

Pierce the gloom of sin, and grief,

Fill me, Radiancy Divine,

Scatter all my unbelief,

More and more thyself display,

Shining to the perfect day.

Main Idea

The main idea of this poem is that God fills your heart, morning, day, and night. He is always there in everything that we do. When God's light is shining on you, you are going to have a perfect day. God can make grief, fear, and sorrow disappear. This poem is like a song for all believers.

Why did I pick this poem?

I chose this poem because I feel like I can really relate to it. I am always looking towards God in every situation that occurs in my life. Disappointment, sadness, and loneliness can be filled by God's light and love. He is always there for you when you need Him. I felt like this poem is something that I could read everyday to remind me of God's love.

"Who Am I" by: Casting Crowns

Song Lyrics

"Who Am I"

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart?

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean.
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling.
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling.
And You've told me who I am.
I am Yours, I am Yours.

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again?
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me?

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean.
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling.
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling.
And You've told me who I am.
I am Yours.

I am Yours, I am Yours, I am Yours.

Whom shall I fear?
Whom shall I fear?
'Cause I am Yours, I am Yours.

Song and Poem Connection

The song that I chose connects to my poem because they are both talking about what God can do in someone's life. They both discuss that you shall not fear because God is always with you. God will always protect you. He hears you when you cry, laugh, or call out to him. They both show the power of God's love.

God's Love

Original Poem

In the morning when I wake

God's love is there for me to take

In my heart, he makes me feel

So happy and complete

I know that it is real

When sadness and fear come over me

I call His name, for that's the key

His love is gentle, forgiving and sweet

I lay my sins at His feet

He loves me morning, day, and night

I know in heaven

He's a beautiful sight
