5th GRADE - UPCOMING CAMP BOURNEDALE TRIP
Just a reminder - Deposit for Camp Bournedale is now due. Please see the below letter with instructions on payment.

Camp Bournedale Deposit Due
Camp Bournedale Deposit is now due - Please see the following information regarding the trip and payment can be made through the link provided.
Trip dates –– April 20th - April 24 (April Vacation)
Tuition Cost - $600.00 per student – (this could fluctuate depending on number of confirmed paid students participating)
We will be requiring a $150.00 deposit to register your child due no later than June 7, 2019. Camp Registration will be closed to all students enrolled in the Class of 2026 as of June 14, 2019. This deposit will be non-refundable after September 2, 2019. This deposit will be deposited through UNIBANK once again this year.
In January, 2020 children will receive a packet of emergency and medical information forms along with a final balance letter that must be completed along with the balance paid by upcoming determined date (TBA). These forms will be required to be returned. Please be advised if the forms and full payment are not returned by the pre-determined set deadline date, your child will not be allowed to attend Camp Bournedale and your deposit may be forfeited.

NURSES CORNER
As the warm weather FINALLY arrive, please make sure your students are dressed appropriately (within the school handbook guidelines) for the heat. This building gets hot very quickly and the students are outside for recess and gym. Also, please be sure to send in a water bottle with them that they can refill at the bubblers throughout the day.
Also, please make a plan to pick up your child's medication by the end of school (June 14th). ALL medication left behind will be discarded after that date. There is NO MEDICATION left in the building over the summer.
7th Grade Sports Meeting
This Monday, June 3rd @ 7:15 pm in the high school auditorium, Michael Connor will be hosting a sports overview for next year. If your 7th grader has any interest in sports during their time as an 8th grader at BHS or if you wish to introduce sports to your child, you are urged to attend. This event is designed for both the parent and the student-athlete and generally lasts less than one hour.

4TH INFORMATIONAL BAND NIGHT
Beginning Band Info Night for 4th Grade parents
Tuesday May 28th from 7-8pm in BMS Band Room
Topics being discussed are:
- music class choices for 5th Grade
- materials needed for band
- how music teachers are currently helping students choose an instrument that is best for them
- how to acquire an instrument
- how often 5th Grade band meets during the school day
- how many concerts and when they perform them
- student assessment, band curriculum, and grading
- the add/drop period for band
- band commitment and expectations
- enrollment period and how to sign up for band or chorus

MRS. CORTIS - TECHNOLOGY CLASSES
Mrs. Cortis will be walking her technology classes to the Bellingham High School for a short 20 minute visit to the BPS Data Center. The Data Center is where all the district technology is centrally connected. This is the final lesson in the 6th grade Network Unit. Bellingham Public Schools Technology Director, Mike Garofano will be there to share information with the students and show them around. Parents of fifth grade girls - an educational video, Growing Up for Girls, which deals with the subject of puberty, will be shown and discussed by Maureen Loftus, RN, BSN, Memorial School Nurse on Friday, May 17th 2019. Permission slips were sent home today. Your daughter will not be able to watch the video without a signed permission slip.
Parents of sixth grade boys - an educational video, Growing Up for Boys, which deals with the subject of puberty, will be shown and discussed by Jeffrey Croteau, Memorial School Principal. It will be shown on Friday, May 17th 2019. Permission slips were sent home today. Your son will not be able to watch the video without a signed permission slip.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming May 13th – 17th!
Once again, BMS will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair. Students will have the opportunity to visit the fair during regular school hours beginning Monday, May 13th through Friday, May 17th.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED…If you have some time to volunteer during the school day and you have an approved CORI on file, please email Mrs. Dowrey, Library Assistant/Book Fair Chairperson at sdowrey@bpsdk12.org indicating your interest and availability.
