April 11th - TEKS Resource System: Making Vocabulary Fun
If you've got the time, we've got the games! Learn about Marzano's vocabulary development as we explore multiple ways to expose students to academic vocabulary. Join us as we share games and activities that allow students to play as they learn the terms.
April 13th - High School Science the "Write Way"
In the session, we will look at how to use science notebooks to integrate expository writing into your science instruction in a way that's purposeful and meaningful to you and your students. Come learn tips for implementing various writing strategies for reasoning, data analysis, conclusions, assessments and more.
May 3rd - Innovative Technology in the High School Science Classroom
Technology is a reality for the 21st century learner. Come investigate ways to effectively integrate technology into the high school science classroom through the use of apps, smart devices, data acquisition probes, and computers and how technology can help transform data into discovery.
May 5th - Formative Assessment in Secondary Science
How do you know what your students know? Explore the use of formative assessments to inform teacher planning and instruction, to guide student learning, and to target interventions. Take a closer look at how to develop formative assessments and rubrics that are meaningful and lead to more focused teaching and learning.
May 8th - Using the Digitarium Alpha 2 Planetarium in K-12 Science
Participants will be trained in the setup and use of the Digitarium Alpha 2 Planetarium. In addition, they will explore using it to support grade level TEKS. Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be eligible to check out Region 7's planetarium for use with their students.
May 17th - High School Science Notebooking
An important component of science inquiry is the communication that focuses the student on how they know what they know and how their knowledge connects to larger ideas. Teachers will discover how science notebooks build science content and process skills and help students make sense of scientific investigation.
May 17th - Vocabulary Strategies in the Secondary Science Classroom (6-12)
