Panther Nation: August 2019

Big picture

We hope everyone has had a great summer break. We are working on the finishing touches before teachers and students arrive August 13th. When you get an opportunity, please give a shout out to our amazing custodial and maintenance crews. They put in some long hours over the summer to make our facilities and physical plant look like new!

Please take a moment to look through this monthly newsletter to familiarize yourself with our district and upcoming events. In this month's edition, you will find the upcoming school year calendar and bell schedule, student spotlights, new teacher highlights and a schedule of events through the month of August. We will be putting out a newsletter toward the beginning of each month.

I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

New Bell Schedule & 4 Day Week

Due to the new 4-Day calendar at MCE this year, there are some minor changes to the bell schedule. We will be starting school at 7:50 and releasing at 3:30. With students having Monday's off, we are requesting parents to make as many of the recurring, non-emergency appointments (dentist, counseling, etc.) on these Mondays. Athletic practices will not begin until 3:30, as well, so you have time for your child to make it to the doctor without missing any practice time. Here is the new schedule...

eMINTS Grant

This past May, we applied for and were one of 13 school districts in Missouri awarded the eMINTS technology grant though the University of Missouri. This grant is providing in class chromebooks for all students in grades Seven & Eight. The eMINTS grant also provides other pieces of technology such as numerous 3D printers for the district. This summer, teachers and administrators went through the beginning of many eMints trainings to prepare new lessons and ideas to incorporate the new technology into lessons and projects for their classrooms. As the year progresses, we will be giving updates on the training the teachers are receiving as well as the progress your students are making in the classrooms with it. The eMINTS Instructional Model includes High Quality Lesson Design, Learning through Technology, Collaboration through a Community of Learners and Authentic Learning. Thank you to the teachers, administration and school board for their support in this new endeavor.
