Learning in the Midst of Everyday
I want to encourage you that there is much to gain, educationally, from including your children in the everyday tasks of life. Give them chores that they must complete on a regular basis. Make them responsible for feeding pets, taking out the trash, picking up their room, and YES, making their bed. I recently read an article that discusses the importance of doing chores. A research study was cited in which the highest achievers had been expected to do chores - and it was the highest predictor of adult success in this 20 year study!

The importance of everybody helping out at home is high. It's not too much to expect your children to be responsible.
I wish you well. Take care!

Worried About Your Child's Math Instruction?
Many parents say that the way math is done today is often quite different than how they learned it. You might be concerned about what is happening to your child's math progress while we are out of school. We have a possible solution for you.
Here's how to get on iReady:
1 - student logs onto their Clever account (email address and password)
2 - student will go into the iReady link
3 - when they enter iReady, the student can click on the "My Path" link to start working through instruction.
4 - Each "lesson" will typically be about 20 minutes a day. There are also games they can play to learn the concept better.
5 - There is a link for families to read that may help you to use iReady
There is an app for Apple products, but not for Android. You should be able to access iReady on a desktop or laptop through the browser (Edge, Chrome, Foxfire, Safari, etc). I am unsure if using the browser (instead of an app) may also work on an Android.
Additionally, your child's teacher may share some further resources with you that would not require constant wifi access. There are some pdf resources that can be shared that would be able to be accessed offline and students could simply do the work on a notebook or pad of paper. We understand that many don't have internet access so we are simply trying to provide resources to fill the gap while we are out (hopefully without stressing you out).

PHS to Serve as Shelter for Healthcare and Emergency Workers
D32 to Host Mobile Food Pantry
Perry County School District 32 will host a Free Mobile Food Pantry in partnership with Southeast Missouri Food Bank to help local families who may be struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Mobile Food Pantry will serve 200 households on a first-come, first-served basis. It will be held from 6-7 pm Tuesday, April 7, at the District 32 Bus Shed. You should enter from National Guard Drive, and District 32 staff will be on hand to direct vehicles to the entrance. You should not arrive for line-up before 5:45 pm.
It isn’t known ahead of time what foods will be in the delivery, as it is comprised of surplus food items. It will be a combination of non-perishable, fresh, refrigerated and frozen food items.
This is free for local households, with only a few requirements:
Perry County is under a shelter-in-place order except for essential needs, so one person from your household should come.
You must stay in your car until instructed to load your food. You should maintain at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and our volunteers.
Adults over age 18 can pick up the food, and you can only pick up for your own household.
“We know that the coronavirus pandemic has caused many local families to experience layoffs or loss of jobs,” said Kate Martin, communications director at District 32. “While we have been able to provide food and support for families enrolled in our Backpacks For Fridays program, we know that need is growing among families.
“Our District family wanted to provide this outreach to help ease some of the worry in this time of uncertainty. There are no income requirements to meet, and it doesn’t matter if you’re getting other assistance right now.”
The District is able to provide this Mobile Food Pantry, and others in the future, through donations our community has made to the Perry County Children’s Fund, a partnership with United Way of Southeast Missouri.
If you’d like to help District 32 provide hunger relief programs like this during the pandemic and the long-term recovery process, you can make a donation by:
