Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
March 21, 2019
Dear Parents,
Tomorrow begins Terra Nova testing for students in Grades 3 to 7. Grade 2 testing will begin on Monday. Here are some tips in helping to prepare your children.
- Send your child to school with a healthy snack and lunch.
- Send your child to school with a water bottle.
- Make sure that your child gets a good night sleep.
- Make sure that your child eats a healthy breakfast before coming to school.
- Make sure that your child has sharpened pencils each day.
- Eat a nutritious dinner the entire week.
- Remind your child to take their time and do not rush.
- Remember, it is just a test, it does not predict your child's future.
- Please do not compare your child with others (even siblings). Each student is unique in all the best of ways.
- There will be no homework during test week. Please do not assign anything extra at home. Your child has been working hard all day. Please provide time for them to play and relax.
- Remind your child to complete all questions. (Blank answers are marked wrong, so it is better to make an educated guess than do nothing at all)!
- RELAX, please! Children will take their cues from you.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God’s Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
Principal

BLOCS - Applications
We highly encourage everyone to apply for BLOCS tuition grants via Facts (Application found HERE). In order to be considered for this grant you must apply and be approved.
Facts is the third party administrator that processes and reviews your financial information in order to determine eligibility. This is a strict confidential process and we only receive a confirmation of whether or not a family is approved. Participation in the SPE Program is available to everyone. If you or anyone you know is interested in participating in the SPE Program, please review the information HERE or contact the School Office.
2019 Spring Fling Auction Night
Auction Night is 9 days away! Auction item donations are complete, and program book ads are closed. A few notes:
- Check-In Time has moved to 6:30 pm, with main event doors opening at 6:45 pm, to accommodate the evening's full agenda.
- Dress Code is "dressy casual" - think attire you'd wear to a communion party/bridal shower at an event hall. (No jeans, please.)
Event details are outlined in the document below. Please email OLGCPIE@olgc.org with any questions. Thank you all for your support, we're looking forward to a great evening!

Ink & Recycling
Don't forget that OLGC is a printer/copier ink & recycling center! Our school earns money on all old ink, printer & copier cartridges. You can drop these off at the School Office or Trinity Center Office or leave your donations outside by the bench during off hours. This is a great way to earn money for our school and keep the planet green!
