Definition
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves.
Causes
It's not known what causes schizophrenia, but researchers believe that a combination of genetics, brain chemistry and environment contributes to development of the disorder.

delusions- false beliefs that aren't reality
hallucinations- seeing or hearing things that don't exist
disorganized thinking- communication is impaired
extremely disorganized behavior
negative symptoms- lack the ability to function normally
gender tendencies
women tend to get it 3-4 years earlier before men
Background
Schizophrenia is a group of psychotic disorders that interfere with thinking and mental or emotional responsiveness. It is a disease of the brain. The term schizophrenia, which means "split mind," was first used in 1911 by Swiss psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler to categorize patients whose thought processes and emotional responses seemed disconnected. Despite its name, the condition does not cause a split personality. Schizophrenia has an unknown cause and isn't curable but can be treated.
Medications and Treatments
arsenapine, brexpiprazole,and aripiprazole are medications.
The only available treatment is through therapy.
