Goal

Our goal for unit 2 is to have individual and class mastery of the topics above. Our first test is today and our goals will start low until I get current levels of understanding of the concepts. After test one is graded, I will set class goals each week for the kids to strive for. I also encourage all students to set a personal goal and to write that goal at the top of each test. Individual goal rewards include Top Performer and Top Growth per class. Those lucky individuals get a yummy treat for their efforts. Each class that earns their goal score average for the week will also earn a class reward on the following Monday after a test.

Reminder

Please ask your child to see their weekly math packets that we complete in class. We spend a lot of minutes reviewing and working problems and that effort is shown on the packets that are taken home. Each packet should be kept for review. If you do not see score growth from your child on the weekly tests I ask that you think about the following:

  • Do you see your child watching the lesson videos?
  • Do you see your child reviewing the weekly lesson packets?
  • Have you reviewed the names and rules with your child?
  • Have you set goals at home for your child's success?

I understand that being a parent is a lot of work. I'm a parent of two elementary boys and one toddler. Time is hard to find in the evenings and sometimes it's just not there when there are after school activities, sporting events, and other family matters to attend to. Don't give up! Your child needs the consistency of your interest in their school success. Showing that can make a huge difference in their determination and personal goals. Let your child know how much you care about their success and give them as much time as you possibly can. You Can Do It!

Thank You

I want to personally thank all parents for the wonderful kids I have this year. In my 17 years of teaching, I have never had a more "lovable" group of kids. Each child brings a unique quality and every child is having an impact on me as their teacher. I'm amazed by their kindness, caring, and willingness to learn. Kudos to YOU parents!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns you can contact me at any time.
