Madison Update 2020/2021
Virtual Learning
A student's day will begin at 8a.m. Monday - Friday, with an opening community circle focused on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and relationship building.
Instruction will be a blend of live sessions, recorded lessons, and differentiated guided practice.
A scheduled break will be from approximately 11am - 11:45am for lunch and brain breaks.
Teachers will be available through email and phone calls for instructional assistance during the school day
The last live segment will end around 1:45pm.
A teacher-staffed evening helpdesk will be piloted as a resource for parents and students who are not able to participate in daytime learning activities. This will run Monday - Thursday from 7pm - 9pm. Please email homeworkhelp@phm.k12.in.us for academic support.
If you have a technical issue with your chromebook, email chromebooks@phm.k12.in.us.

Material Pick-up
We have set aside a couple of days next week for material distribution:
Monday, August 17th 4:00pm-6:00pm
Tuesday, August 18th, 9:00am-12:00pm
*If times do not work, please let us know, and we will make other pick-up arrangements.
Your child could receive many items for home use, but please understand that all items must be returned to school in clean, working condition once we are back to face-to-face instruction.
All students enrolled at Madison will receive a Chromebook, unless parents give us direct instruction not to include one, or they received one last year, and it is in working condition. These are given with the students' responsibility not to mistreat them and will be brought back to school when needed.
We will use the front of the school to hand out material, so we will use the "correct" right-of-way entrance and exit (NOT like the end of last year).

Social-Emotional Learning Plan
Homework Helpdesk
In order to provide students with after hours academic support during virtual learning, we are piloting a P-H-M homework helpdesk. We have assembled a team of elementary, exceptional education, and content specific secondary teachers who will be available via email from 7:00-9:00pm, Monday-Thursday. These helpdesk teachers will be responsive to student and/or parent emails, providing specific academic support as needed. This might include responding to an email or even an interactive Google Video Hangout to provide academic guidance. Additionally, the helpdesk teachers will communicate back to the student's regular teacher related to what supports were provided so we can work collaboratively, creating the best possible virtual learning environment for our students.
Students and/or parents can contact the after-hours homework helpdesk by emailing homeworkhelp@phm.k12.in.us starting on Monday, August 24th.
