GMS Principal's Corner
December 13, 2020
Dear Galvin Families,
I hope you all had a nice weekend - these 60 degree December days are great opportunities to continue to be outdoors! Below please find some important reminders that will help keep our community safe and our schools open during this crucial time.
One way that you can help keep our school community safe is by making sure your child has received their flu shot prior to December 31st. All students, including our Remote Ravens, will be required to have received a flu vaccine by December 31, 2020 for the 2020-2021 influenza season, unless either a medical or religious exemption is provided. Vaccine exemption forms can be obtained by reaching out to your child's school nurse. Influenza immunization will be required for all children 6 months of age or older who are attending Massachusetts schools, preschool through grade 12. This immunization is mandatory per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. School immunization requirements exist to protect students and members of their community from serious vaccine-preventable diseases by ensuring high vaccination rates.
The Canton nurses are running two additional flu clinics sponsored by CVS Pharmacy on December 17th and December 29th, from 3:00-8:00pm in the Rodman gym. More information with registration links for these clinics will be shared with the school community soon.
The other way to help the whole community is to fill out the student heath screener each morning and keeping your children who are experiencing symptoms home. If your child is going to be absent, please also remember to call them in sick and to let our school nurses - fallonl@cantonma.org and darcyk@cantonma.org - know. By doing these things, you are protecting thee students and the staff of the Galvin.
Thank you,
Sarah
