A Message from Marcie
Hello, South Park!
With cold and flu season upon us, we recognize that it can feel overwhelming when your child becomes sick and you need to find out whether or not they have COVID-19.
As you head into the weekend, if your child develops any COVID symptoms that would prevent them from passing their morning certification on Monday morning, please get your child a COVID test. Rapid testing is acceptable if drawn within 48 hours of symptom development and test results should be emailed to our school nurse, Nora Moskos, at nbrennan@dps109.org. At-home tests are currently not accepted by the Lake County Health Department. If you are unsure about testing needs, please feel free to contact Nurse Moskos.
During the school week, if a child wakes up with COVID symptoms, please contact Nurse Moskos and plan to keep your child home from school along with their unvaccinated siblings. Nurse Moskos can help arrange for your child to get a COVID test after school hours at the district office between 4:00-5:00.
Wishing everyone good health as we head into the fall season!

Social Emotional Learning at South Park - 2nd Posting
Building students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) skills is important at South Park. As a part of the learning process, we will be asking our students to reflect on their own SEL mindsets via an online survey. The survey will be administered between October 4th and 15th, and it should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. It asks students to self-reflect on their own grit, growth mindset, self-efficacy, self-management, social awareness, and emotional regulation.
Individual student responses can provide the school and family with insight into what skills the child self-identifies as strengths and others they would like to develop. The overall data helps us (the educators) identify priorities and provide targeted learning opportunities to address the SEL needs in our classrooms.
Per policy, if you would like your child to opt out of taking the survey, please contact me no later than TODAY, October 1.
