PRINCIPAL LINSKI NOTES - Week of February 5 , 2024
Dear ISAAC Families,
We extend our heartfelt thanks once again for your continued understanding during the ongoing demolition of the historic church structure. As this process nears completion, we anticipate providing an update soon on when we can fully resume our traditional pick-up and drop-off routine.
Please be aware that February is upon us, and in the upcoming weeks, there will be a professional development day on February 12th, followed by the February break on the 19th and 20th of the month. On these days, there is no school.
Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we navigate through these adjustments.
Sincerely,
Principal Linski
ISAAC Middle School Shines on WFSB Channel 3 Spotlight
📺📰
New London, CT - In a remarkable moment of recognition, ISAAC Middle School took center stage on WFSB Channel 3's news feature on January 30th at 6:15 pm. The spotlight was on our 8th Grade Honors Geometry Class, whose outstanding exploration of applied mathematical skills played a crucial role in understanding the historic collapse of one of New London's oldest buildings.
The focus of the story centered on the students' investigation into the possible leaning of a local historical church tower before its unexpected collapse. Luke Hajdasz, New London Bureau Chief at WFSB-TV, visited ISAAC Middle School to interview our students, delving into how they utilized their mathematical prowess to identify the leaning of the church.
Students shared their innovative approach, utilizing the school's surveillance pointing towards the church to capture still images each day at noon over the past several weeks. By analyzing these images and collating printouts, they successfully identified the tilt and demonstrated an impressive application of mathematical principles.
This special feature is a testament to the dedication of our students and the exceptional learning environment at ISAAC Middle School. We are immensely proud of their ability to apply academic skills to real-world situations. This recognition on WFSB Channel 3 is not just a victory for our students but a celebration for the entire ISAAC community.
In showcasing their achievements, ISAAC Middle School continues to exemplify excellence in education, where students are encouraged to explore, innovate, and make meaningful contributions to their community.
