DMS/DHS November Family Newsletter
November 2023
October has come to a snowy end and we are officially in the third month of school already! The week of Homecoming was filled with school spirit, community excitement, and tons of fun for all! Our fall sports have wrapped up and our winter sports seasons are hitting the ground running! A special shout-out to our Boys and Girls Cross Country teams who BOTH made it to the state competition this year where we had two of our girls finish on the podium and a number of other boys and girls who ended their year with personal records! We are proud of all of your accomplishments!
As we enter the month of November, themes of gratefulness and thankfulness will be surrounding us. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I have to lead such an amazing group of students and staff and and thankful for the trust that the Dodgeland community puts in our school each day to provide every student with the opportunities to learn at a high level, grow as young adults, and explore new things.
Here's to another GREAT month of school!
Go Trojans!

Here are a few reasons why punctuality is so important:
1. Establishing a Positive Routine: By arriving on time, students develop a sense of structure and routine, which helps them feel more organized and prepared for the day ahead. It sets a positive tone for their learning experience.
2. Maximizing Learning Opportunities: When students arrive late, they miss out on valuable instructional time. Every minute counts, and consistent attendance ensures that your child can fully engage in classroom activities, discussions, and lessons.
3. Building Responsibility and Time Management Skills: Being punctual teaches children the importance of being responsible and managing their time effectively. These skills are essential for success not only in school but also in their future endeavors.
4. Fostering a Sense of Belonging: When students arrive on time, they have the opportunity to connect with their peers, participate in morning routines, and engage in social interactions. This helps them feel a sense of belonging within the school community.
Please make sure your students emergency contact information is up to date. If you need to change anything, (phone number, email address or contacts in general) please email our district registrar, Lynn Bentz. bentz@dodgeland.k12.wi.us
We want to emphasize the importance of regularly checking your student's grades. By staying informed, you can support their academic progress, encourage responsibility, and address concerns promptly. Please sign in to our online portal to easily access your child's grades. Thank you for your continued support in your child's education!
As winter approaches, please remember our school's dress code policy. Encourage your child to dress in layers, wear a warm coat, bring hats, gloves, and scarves, and choose appropriate footwear. However, please note that blankets are not allowed, and coats should not be worn during class time to maintain a focused learning environment. While staying warm is important, let's also ensure that clothing choices align with our guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation in creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for all.
With the holidays right around the corner, how about some Dodgeland apparel for gift-giving?
The Athletic Booster Club has got you covered with their store open until November 15th so everything can be here before winter break.
We are excited to have received official notification that the Dodgeland High School yearbook staff performed so well this year that they earned recognition as a Jostens National Yearbook Program of Excellence! They worked so hard to make a great yearbook and we are thrilled they received this recognition for it! Congratulations!

The 6th grade Junior Great Books group has been reading A Rover's Story by Jasmine Warga. They are writing postcards to other schools across the United States who are reading the same book. On the postcards, students ask a few questions about the book, hoping that the school will respond to our questions.

The 7th grade Junior Great Books students have been connecting with a class in Canada as they both read A Work in Progress by Jarrett Lerner. The activity they completed was a Sketchnote about the important events in one part of the book. Students used pictures and words to capture the essence of what was happening to the main character.
