Blessings in a Backpack
Blessings in a Backpack is an organization that works together to unite the Galesburg community to feed kids for a brighter future! Every week, we feed 424 students from different Galesburg elementary schools by packing bags of food and sending them home for the weekend. While it’s troubling that such need exists in the richest country on earth, we know that our efforts are making a difference! We are making a difference with food and with hope for the kids. Every Tuesday evening at 6pm, students and community volunteers gather at the basement of 1st Presbyterian Church to pack the 424 bags of food for the kids!
Blessings in a Backpack bags contain an apple every week! These apples are provided by the Knox students, by donating meal swipes from the cafeteria to provide apples for the kids.
For each Knox Meal Swipe Knox students donate, we get 10 apples from Bon Appetit. These apples go directly into the weekend meal bags for Galesburg elementary children.
We are starting up our Fall Term swipe collection again to get apples for Blessings in a Backpack kids in Galesburg.
To donate up to 10 swipes click this link: https://goo.gl/forms/FAuL08eOZukwvdPD2
Thank you for helping Blessings in a Backpack help our community! If you have meal swipes that you can donate, the kids would really appreciate it!
