Our 25th Anniversary Assembly
CELEBRATING 25 Years of SOARING Eagles!
Mrs. Hoy, English Landing's first principal, shared memories from 1993 when English Landing Elementary School opened. Once an EAGLE.... Always an EAGLE!
The Fifth Grade students organized and led the 25th Anniversary Assembly. Each classroom placed a photo in the ANNIVERSARY Time Capsule which will be opened in 2043! The Park Hill High School drum line also performed which was very EXCITING!
A special THANK YOU to the English Landing PTA for purchasing a t-shirt for every English Landing student to wear to this celebration and throughout the school year! Any students who enroll during the school year have a t-shirt waiting for them as well.
The English Landing PTA Always SOARS!

Park Hill: Parenting Webinar Series
Our next webinar in our Parenting in Challenging Times webinar series is on October 16 from 6-7 p.m. Dr. Jill Rosbrugh, child and adolescent psychiatrist from Parkville, will unpack the different faces of childhood worry, talk about the major causes of stress, and share how to develop healthy and effective skills for handling these normal stressors.
You might have heard your child say, “I am so stressed out." You might have seen them overwhelmed, anxious, moody and exhausted. You are likely experiencing your own stress and anxiety about raising a child.
We frequently use the terms "stress" and "anxiety" interchangeably, but children’s stress and anxiety disorders are not one and the same. It is important to understand the difference and to learn the tools that you and your child can use to decrease stress and to manage anxiety. You will also learn what signs are red flags for an anxiety disorder and what steps you can take with your child to get help.
If you can't watch it live, you can watch it online afterward — just register either way.
Veterans Day
English Landing would like to honor our Veterans in a different manner this year. During the month of November we would like to invite our family members who have served or are currently serving to participate in the career share visits within the classroom.
Thank you for your service! We hope to see our Veterans and those currently serving during Career Share Visit.
Career Share: Schedule a Classroom Visit!
Parental involvement in your child’s classroom is one of the leading factors in raising self-esteem and academic achievement. This can go beyond attendance at Parent and Teacher Conferences or attending family nights at English Landing. We want to see you at a Career Share Classroom Visit!
Each of our English Landing families are unique ---with their own talents. Career Share is an opportunity for every child at English Landing to showcase THEIR family to their classmates. Career Share is an amazing opportunity for you to visit our classroom. Your involvement will not only make their day, but provide another opportunity for you to partner with English Landing and your child’s education.
Right now, this Career Share Sign Up is for classroom visits in September, October, November, and December. Second Semester Career Share Sign Up times will be shared in December. Your classroom teacher will be sending the link to sign up.
Our goal is to have EVERY student have a member(s) of their family come share in our classroom about their job and careers. It truly means the world to our Eagles.

Park Hill Redistricting Overview
Redistricting Overview
In preparation for the opening of Hopewell Elementary and Walden Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year, and in order to balance our very different high school enrollments, we will be redistricting all of our attendance boundaries, from elementary through high school. Redistricting will help us continue to be one of the best districts around by protecting our low class sizes and making sure we can balance our resources.
The redistricting committee meetings will be open to the public, if you want to observe them. We will also host public input meetings and provide an online feedback tool to get your thoughts on the committee's ideas before the Board sets the new attendance areas. Watch for more information about those opportunities later in the fall. The Board plans to make its decision in December.
Have YOU joined our English Landing PTA? Please consider doing this for the 2018-2019 school year. A PTA membership is $8.00 or a Business membership is $50.00.
To join the English Landing PTA, please click here to complete the PTA Membership Form.

Celebrating Birthdays at English Landing!
Celebrating Student Birthdays: (Park Hill Parent/Student Handbook pages 37-38):
We are happy to celebrate student birthdays and half birthdays (if your child has a summer birthday) at English Landing! To protect the health and safety of our students, families may bring pre-packaged treats to school to share with classmates. In order to address any known allergy concerns, a label listing ingredients should be affixed to the package. Due to allergies and other food intolerances, please consult with your classroom teacher before the pre-packaged treats are brought to school. As a healthier alternative, Park Hill Food Service offers a variety of nutritious treats that may be purchased.
At English Landing we need your HELP! Many birthday treats arrive at the beginning of the school day which provides us time to review the class list regarding food allergies or food intolerances, however, many other birthday treats arrive during lunch and often right at the same time the treat needs to be distributed to students. PLEASE plan on arriving earlier for lunch (at least 15 minutes) to give us time to check the pre-packaged treat ingredients with the students in the classroom who have food allergies or food intolerances. Our school nurse, Mrs. Kimbrel, and office staff, Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Wood, or Mrs. Scott, will help with this process so when the lunchroom staff teachers distribute the treat in the cafeteria, additional steps have been taken to ensure we are protecting the health and safety of our eagles.
