Memorial News
February 2019
From Mr. Collier
Dear Parents/Guardians:
I hope this monthly update finds you and your family healthy and warm during the winter season. So far, the weather has been cooperating with mild temperatures and no major storms that would prevent our students from coming to school.
I would like to thank all the parents and teachers who attended the Montvale Educational Foundation’s Harlem Wizards game in January. It was an exciting and enjoyable night for everyone. As always, the members of the foundation continue to dedicate their time to coordinate these fundraising events that support the innovative programs for our students. I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to them for making this evening such a success.
Many of our students and staff are excited about the month of February. There are several special activities and celebrations at Memorial School during this month such as the Winter Carnival, Jump Rope for Heart, Valentine's Day, 100th Day of School, and so much more. February marks the half-way point of the 2018-2019 school year. Our school year continues to move at such a rapid pace that I want to take a moment and thank the Memorial School Community for being such active participants in their child’s education. Thank you for your continuous support for our teachers and students in this nurturing and stimulating school environment. Please continue to take time every day and ask your child(ren) how their day was, inquire about what they learned, and take a look at some of their work that they produced while at school. These are just some additional ways for you to stay involved in your child’s education.
During the month of February, we celebrate President’s Day by remembering and honoring the achievements of our past presidents. By learning about the accomplishments of these historic leaders, our students can learn about the characteristics and qualities that made them strong leaders in our nation. The one attribute that the students can learn from these men was their ability to make difficult decisions that impacted others for a better future. For our students, it is my hope they understand that just one person can make a difference in the world.
Providing there are no school closures due to inclement weather, Thursday, February 14, 2019 marks the 100th day of school. Students and teachers in several grades are working on some special activities that relate to this monumental occasion. Please look for additional information that will be disseminated by your child’s teacher.
Have a great month!
