SACBS Bulldogs Beat

Message From Mrs. Runnels
- We had a wonderful week at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School! So many students took part in our Favorite Football Team Theme Day to benefit St. Mary's Academy in New Orleans, who were affected by Hurrican Ida. Great job bulldogs helping others in need. I remeber other Catholic Schools doing the same for us after some of the storms we've been through. This teaches our students the joy of giving.
- On Wednesday, although we couldn't gather around the flagpole in person, we made sure to still celebrate See You At The Pole. Our Student Council made sure to send out a virtual See You At The Pole prayer service that we all participated in at 7:30. Great job StuCo!
- We are also blessed that we are able to attend weekly Mass as a school community at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica. Our 8th grade class led the Mass as our lectors, gift bearers, and ushers. Our 1st and 2nd grade classes are our angelic choir lifting their voices up to God with songs of praise.
- Our week ended with an amazing pep rally! Our cheerleaders and StuCo put in a lot of effort for this pride building pep rally, and it all well worth it. Everyone enjoyed the games, cheers, and also the performance by our Bulldog Pup Squad. We were so happy that Dr. Nichols, our superintendent, stopped by to visit with us.
- Monday, September 27th, Two Magnolia's will be serving their delicious GUMBO for hot lunch. Make sure to place your order before 9:00 p.m. tonight to ensure that you're on the hot lunch list for tomorrow. I'm placing my order right now!
- Wednesday, September 29th, the Kelly High School Ambassadors will be helping with morning drop off from 7:15 - 7:45. It's great to see our older Bulldogs working with our younger Bulldogs, building comraderie with the feeder schools.
- We are beginning week 8 of our nine week quarter. Please don't delay with homework assignements, missing work, projects, etc. as this first quarter starts coming to a close, Oct. 8th. Parents, please check the Parent Portal (1st - 8th) for the most up to date grades. Let's remember that more is accomplished for your children when we work together. Thank you for partnering with us for their academic journey.
As our new spirit shirt says, It's a great day to be a St. Anthony Bulldog!! GO BULLDOGS!
God Bless,
Mrs. Runnels
Hot Lunches for Houma, LA
A group of family and friends of Mrs. Arroyo, from both sides of the Texas and Louisiana border, came together to distribute hot meals and supplies to those affected by Hurricane Ida. As always, our bulldogs were ready to help with beautifully decorated brown bags.
Way to go Bulldogs for helping to spread joy!
Hispanic Heritage Month
Here are a few pictures taken this week of second graders learning to make maracas in Spanish class. Ms. Davila taught a lesson over music, dance, and instruments commonly used in Spanish speaking countries. Students made maracas using a plastic egg, two spoons, beans, and tape. They enjoyed testing them out and learning to dance and make music!
