Note from the Principal
Greetings Buena Vista Parents,
I hope you are all well. I hope to see many of our parent volunteers and cheering section parents here tomorrow for our annual BV Fun Run!
I can hardly believe it is already November and Friday marks the close of the first trimester. This year is moving along so quickly. November is also the time to give thanks and to be grateful for all of the things that we have. The caring and kind students and staff here at Buena Vista definitely make me find the joy in coming to work each day. Just today alone the countless high fives and hugs from students today made my heart so happy. Seeing students happy to be at school and excited to learn "fills my bucket." Do you know about filling each other's buckets? This is something that many of our classroom teachers teach students here at Buena Vista about treating others the way you want to be treated and remembering that our actions, both positive and negative, impact others. If you are interested in the book I am referring to, you can find it here. You can also find a copy in the library. This is truly a special time of year, please make sure your take time and enjoy it with your family and friends.
ELO-P
There have been questions regarding our new Extended Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) that the district is planning to start. For parents who are interested on learning more about this program we will have an informational parent session, Wednesday, November 9th at 9am in the Buena Vista Multi-Use Room. Please come and learn more from our Director of Wellness, Extended Learning and Community Engagement, Connie McCarley.
Health and Safety
Fall is here and it is time to start preparing for seasonal breaks and gatherings. WCSD is continuing efforts to keep schools safe and successful by providing access to no-cost, over-the-counter (OTC)/at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen tests for testing students and school staff returning from Thanksgiving/fall break. CDPH encourages all students and staff to test for COVID-19 before they return to school following Thanksgiving/fall break. Students and staff who test positive should stay home. Please note: While at-home testing is not required, testing remains a critical safety measure to reduce the possibility of an early 2023 surge.
We have two Covid-19 test for every student available for pick up at the Buena Vista the Main Office starting Monday, November 7th. If you have any questions, please reach out to the main office directly.
We continue to have resources regarding Covid-19 and health and safety on our district website, you can access that information here.
Respectfully,
Angela Gramlick
Principal
