Do you agree with the statement “it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife”? What is the relationship between money and marriage?
I agree with the statement .This is true in the period Jane Austen lived. Wealth is very important for a man to choose a woman to marry. The author uses it at the beginning of the novel as a irony way. The relationship between money and marriage: Money if is not paramount important, at least, is obviously important. A marriage based on true love will go farer than a marriage based on money. Money can buy marriage but not love.
