EDCI 318-FINAL Reflection Project
This has several parts, read everything carefully!
It is the end of the SUMMER semester (7 weeks total)
I have enjoyed having you in class this summer semester online and I hope you will drop by in the fall introduce yourself in person, my office is Bluemont 233 and am only on campus Monday and Tuesdays. As you know we did a little experiment using Seesaw this summer. This was more of an experiment for me than you, but I am happy with Seesaw. So am thinking I will use it again in the fall. I have a few details to work out to be more efficient, but all-in-all, worked pretty well and I know it was tons easier for you than creating a website using Weebly.
This is your final reflection project and hopefully, it will DEMONSTRATE TO YOU that you have learned and accomplished a great deal this summer and that you are a little braver when it comes to technology and a little more a little willing to try something new.
Introducing Clips. A new iOS app for making and sharing fun videos with text, real-time captions. effects, graphics, and more.
- Capture a moment: Getting started is simple and quick. Just hold the red button to record video on the spot, or grab a video clip or photo from anywhere in your library. Pinch and drag while recording to smoothly zoom and pan across images for that extra touch of drama or comedy.
- Say it, see it: Live Titles let you easily create animated captions and titles — just by talking. Simply speak while recording, and text automatically appears onscreen, perfectly synced with your voice. Choose from different styles and tap any title to adjust text and punctuation.
- Jazz Things Up: Give your videos personality with a few taps. Pick a filter that flatters. Add animated graphics and emoji. Use full‑screen posters with backgrounds to help tell your story. And set the mood with dozens of music tracks that instantly and intelligently adjust to match the length of your video.
- May just be right for your Classroom: Apple Clips is a new video broadcasting experience that provides teachers some easy to use resources when editing video ... is it the right tool for your classroom?
I know you will be interested in using video in your classroom with your students but do you know where to start? Last year, Apple released a brand new app called Clips that has some pretty nice features. By the way, Clips was discussed at length in the Everyone Can Create iBooks from last week and Includes how to use it. You should already be quite skilled.
To meet accessibility requirements, a captioned video is a necessary component, and until now, captioning video has been difficult and time-consuming. This new video app called Apple Clips finally puts dictation-style speech recognition to work in real time auto-captioning. The new Apple Clips app allows users to build multi-segment video by stringing clips together. There are several options for effects and filters. It is clear that this Clips will have a place in the world of Snapchat and Instagram, but this is not a social platform, this is a content creation studio.
You will export the video to your camera roll (Photos). In the classroom, Apple Clips can empower kids to make captioned video. Captioning video helps students really pay attention to what they are saying and how they are saying it. The creators of the video as well as the viewers have a more literacy-rich experience when working with captioned video.
- Easy Editing: Clips makes it easy to edit captions, you just click on the text and an edit window opens. This allows you to add punctuation and capitalization. As I mentioned before, this is dictation-style auto-text so you can say your punctuation as you speak, but it is best to add it after the fact.
- Inspiration: How can you use clips to your classroom? Have your kids create Snapchat-style stories by building the pieces in clips and then sharing them to SeeSaw or your classes private blog. If you use Book Creator, Clips can help you make captioned videos to include in your books.
- Safety: Remember that as the teacher you are responsible for all the images and video that come out of the room. The key concern is student safety. Be sure you know the policy for sharing videos and photos of students. If your school has a private blog or parent-only space like SeeSaw, be sure you know how to use it.
