Vision
Standout: with Strong Hearts and Strong Minds
Mission Statement
Living for Love -- Are you willing to work for it?
Ch. 3 from Principal Brewer's book is called, "Living for Love."
It goes perfectly AGAIN with our work of building relationships with all our students. Here is a small snippet.
"Our children need to feel loved, and far too many of them don't feel that love at home. When they come back after the weekend or a holiday, you do not know what they have been through while they were away from school. Often, time at home can be lonely for students. Many of them (believe it or not) look forward to being at school. When you greet them in the morning, your smile or hug might be the first one of their day. Our goal as educators must be to make schools a safe place where children feel protected, nurtured, and loved - and that starts by openly expressing our care for everyone in our schools." pg. 43
"Are you Willing to Work for It?"
"Some people talk about wanting to leave a legacy; but not everyone is willing to do the work. When your feet hit the ground each morning, you have an opportunity to make your mark. And every day, you have the chance to build on your legacy. But is isn't easy. You have to push past your comfort zone and be willing to go one more round -- every day. Chasing something bigger than yourself requires work and effort. There are no shortcuts. There are no quick fixes. You can't just tweet, snap, Facebook, or insta you way to a legacy. You have to put in the work. But first you have to decide what your legacy will be."
I think we know the legacy we want to leave at Springhill ... Strong Hearts and Strong Minds. You as a team have already decided what "Heartprint" (legacy) you will leave on your students this year! The question is will we show up everyday to put in the work and will we go one more round every day? I believe we will and we can, with the support of ALL of us working together and holding one another accountable to our VISION!
He said there are no shortcuts or quick fixes and that is true but there are plenty of "opponents" or "excuses" and we have to fight against them RELENTLESSLY! We know they are there and let's use our tools to make sure we can overcome them and help our students over come them! Let's also be on the look out for when our team members may need our support and need help to overcome.

StandOUT Award
She is such a great example of what a Springhill StandOUT is. She is constantly pushing herself to learn more and be better for students. NOT just her TAG students but for all students. She comes to me with solutions to any issues that arise. We had an issue with her schedule and she had already done the work to problem solve it when she came to me. She then also adjusted her schedule to maximize her time with students and make sure that all the teachers were getting the support they needed from her. It didn't give Mrs. Uekman more time to work on the many things she needs to get done but it was what was best for kids! Thank you Mrs. Uekman for being a StandOUT!
