Eagle Empire Update
October 11, 2020
Dear Families,
Good afternoon Eagle families,
We hope your student had a successful end to Quarter 1. I believe the change in Quarters will help bring a fresh start to many of our students. We know the many challenges, obstacles and great perseverance it takes to be successful in this environment. We appreciate your support in making learning a priority in your household, as you continue to navigate your own unique and challenging work world.
Here are a few things you can do to help support your child's success in Quarter 2:
1) Take a look at our Digital Planning tools below
2) Organize your Q2 teacher cards - link below
3) Set a daily learning routine for your household.
4) Check grades weekly.
5) Help your child reach out to teachers! Guide them through creating emails, preparing
specific questions and keeping them accountable to following through.
We could not continue to provide learning experiences for your child without your partnership. Please continue to reach out to teachers and staff with any questions you may have.
With Eagle Pride,
Mr. Fowler

Paying for College - Thursday Oct 15th at 5pm
It's financial aid season! The FAFSA, the free application for federal student aid, opened today for students starting college in the Fall of 2021. Click here to sign up!
To apply for financial aid, start by gathering necessary documents, which includes social security numbers, tax documents from 2019 and information about assets. (If a student doesn't have a social security number they might be eligible to fill out the CA Dream Act Application instead of the FAFSA.) Next, complete the FAFSA. It will share your information directly with the California Student Aid Commission (which gives out state-based financial aid) and the colleges that you put on the application. Then, you will receive a Student Aid Report that will summarize your submission and show what kind of federal grant you might be eligible for. By filling out the FAFSA you are also applying for a Cal-Grant (the state-based financial aid). Once you apply and are accepted to colleges, they will reach out directly to you with school-specific financial aid packages (which could include federal and state aid as well as aid from the school itself). You'll work directly with each school's financial aid office to accept any or all of the package they offer.
Please visit the Federal Student Aid website for more information. You can explore the financial aid process, view a financial aid checklist and more. For even more info, please keep a look out for information on our upcoming FAFSA presentation, offered on October 15th!
