Covid-19 Update at CDES, Picture Day 9/30, Early Dismissal 10/1

Hello, Chapel Families!

Unfortunately this week, we have had four positive Covid-19 student cases at CDES. So far all 4 students became infected from a parent or sibling at home and we have not yet had a student to student transmission at CDES.

For future reference, if your child is deemed a close contact, you will receive a text message and email from the school, as well as a quarantine letter from the Talbot County Health Department that outlines the dates of your child's quarantine, information about Covid testing, and a return to school date. You may reach out to our school nurse, Christa Johns, with any questions you may have ( If your child has to quarantine, work will be provided and your child's teacher will check in/provide office hours as needed. We will continue to use enhanced cleaning procedures and follow TCPS protocols to ensure student and staff safety.

Please be reminded of the importance to keep your child at home if they are not feeling well. Also, it is imperative if your child has a pending Covid test, to NOT send them to school, even if they are feeling better. In addition, please make sure you send a parent or doctor's note if your child is absent for any reason.

Picture Day is September 30th! Picture forms were sent home in student folders with more information. You can send in your child's picture form order/money OR order online at CDES picture ID: EVT3MVTT8

Friday, October 1st is an Early Dismissal day with students dismissing at 12:20 p.m. Parents may reach out to their child's teacher for a conference slot in the PM.

Our PTO is collecting recipes from Chapel students, families, and staff for our first Chapel Cheetah Cookbook. Recipes are due October 1st and can be sent into school to be placed in the PTO mailbox or can be emailed to Homerooms are also collecting items for themed class baskets for our Fall Festival.

Great things continue to happen at CDES! We had a fun 'Start With Hello' Spirit Week, MCAP testing went smoothly in 4th and 5th grades, and students continue to learn, thrive, and show why they are #CDES STRONG! Have a great weekend!

How We Recognize Students at CDES for Positive Behavior!

Students at CDES can be recognized with a Positive Office Referral by any staff member for showing their P.A.W.S. Students can receive a positive office referral by going above and beyond every day to show their P.A.W.S.!

*Pay attention

*Act responsibly

*Work to do their best

*Show respect

Students can also receive small P.A.W.S. daily when they follow school rules. Students then write their name on these P.A.W.S. coupons, which go into their classroom envelope for weekly drawings for the prize cart on Fridays.
