2. Complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
Here is the link to get to the Volunteer Handbook:

At CES, we ask that you do not bring younger siblings into the school when volunteering.
Future Mustang and Panther Nights at Mustang Panther Stadium
We encourage our elementary and middle school students to wear their school shirts and attend these nights to show support of their future high schools. This year's Future Mustang night is Thursday, September 29 and Future Panther Night is Friday, October 14.
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement is coming to CES in October and November!
What is JA?
Junior Achievement is a volunteer-delivered program for students. It fosters work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and uses experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. Junior Achievement provides all the materials needed for the sessions as well as training for the volunteers in order to prepare everyone for a fun and exciting learning experience.
Junior Achievement will look a little different this fall than it has in the past. This year Kindergarten - 3rd grades will have 1 lesson each week instead of all 5 lessons in one day. 4th and 5th grades will have JA in a Day and complete all 5 lessons in one day.
Junior Achievement Schedule
Kinder - October 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, and November 4th (1:15 - 2:00)
1st Grade - October 7th, 14th, 28th and November 4th and 18th (9:45 - 10:45)
2nd Grade - October 14th, 21st, 28th, and November 4th and 11th (8:15 - 9:15)
3rd Grade - October 11th, 18th, 25th, and November 1st and 8th (1:45 -2:45)
4th Grade - JA in a Day on November 17th
5th Grade - JA in a Day on November 16th
If you are interested in volunteering to present JA lessons to your child’s class, please contact your child’s teacher. Training will be held on the following dates for JA volunteers:
Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade Volunteers - Monday, September 26th @ 8:00 AM in the Science Lab
4th and 5th grade Volunteers - Monday, November 7th @ 8:00 AM in the Science Lab
We hope you decide to be a part of our Junior Achievement program!

Calling all CES 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students and parents!
INTERESTED IN 2016-2017 STUDENT COUNCIL?
Student Council ELECTION WEEK will be
Monday, September 26th -Thursday, September 29th!
Student Council is an organization designed to give students an opportunity to accept responsibility and learn leadership skills to apply in real-life situations. Members of the student council represent their student body and help in planning exciting events for the school like:
-Red Ribbon Week
-Spirit Shop
-Community Outreach and Fundraising
Students in grades 3-5 wishing to participate in student council, may "campaign" for office. In order to campaign and be eligible for running, students will need to:
- fill out the application and turn it in to their homeroom teacher by Monday, September 26th
(applications were sent home in Friday folders)
- prepare and present a short campaign speech to their homeroom class
- create ONE campaign poster to be hung in the hallway during the week of elections.
CES students will then experience the voting process and come to the voting booth with their class to vote for one boy and one girl from each homeroom on the final day of elections! Those elected will be announced on Friday, September 30 on the K-CES morning show and notes will be sent home to parents.
One representative from each class will serve in the fall and the other in the spring. Representatives must attend meetings on the first Wednesday of each month during their term.
If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Hernandez, School Counselor, at Amanda.hernandez@gcisd.net or 817-305-4942!
Let's Talk!
Let’s Talk! Is coming to CES and other GCISD campuses. What is Let’s Talk? Let’s Talk! is a cloud-based communication system that helps school leaders and their teams engage their communities. GCISD has been using Let’s Talk! at the administration level for more than a year, and it has proven to be a useful tool in improving communications with the various stakeholders in our district. Let’s Talk! reduces the reliance on email and phone calls in responding to inquiries from the GCISD community, and instead offers a collaborative arena where we can work together to manage dialogues with our students, staff and community.

Save the date for this year's Fall Festival! The carnival and silent auction will be held October 15 from 2-6pm.
Have you joined CES PTA yet?
This year CES PTA is excited to move our student family phonebook to an online directory format! We are using cloud-based software called MySchoolAnywhere to facilitate this online directory. Keeping with past tradition, all student families can be included in the directory. However, each paid CES PTA member will receive their own login to access the secure website hosting our directory information for the entire school!
All families should have received an email with a link to their current information PTA has for their family. If you did not receive a confirmation email or you would like to join PTA, simply go to join.myschoolanywhere.com and enter the code: cescowboys
On August 29, current CES PTA members received an email with their secure login and password to access the online 2016-17 CES Directory from any internet-connected device. CES PTA members will also receive a printed directory by the end of September.
If you have any questions or need further assistance with MySchoolAnywhere, please contact Alisa McGregor - alisa_mcgregor@hotmail.com 817-319-4192 or Shelby Wai - shelbywai@yahoo.com 817-915-4011.
