Message from Principal Haugens
Next week is teacher appreciation week. We are bringing back one of the most popular events this year: Breakfast with the teachers! On Monday students will get to eat breakfast with their teachers. The breakfast is being provided by our amazing PTO and will include scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, french toast sticks, fruit and orange juice from Brunch Cafe. If your child is not able to eat these food items, we ask that you send a different breakfast with them Monday morning. Although the food items do not contain peanuts, it may have been made in a kitchen that has peanuts. Any questions please feel free to call the DuJardin office.
All students, kindergarten through fifth grade, will be taking the spring MAP assessments in reading and math beginning May 9th. MAP results will be shared with parents the last day of school on Tuesday, June 7th.
Kindergarten Visitation for DuJardin's incoming kindergarten students is scheduled for Tuesday, May 3rd at either 9:30am or 1:30pm. Parents and students are invited for an in-person visit. Parents will meet with Mr. Haugens to discuss the kindergarten program and the children will visit the classroom to complete an activity with staff. This event is for parents and students who are fully registered for kindergarten. Please call the office at 630-894-9200 if you need assistance with registering your kindergarten student.

Message from Nurse Mills
In the past week, we have noticed an increase in absences due to illness. We also had five individuals test positive for Covid. We continue to ask families to keep students home if they are not feeling well or sick. This will help ensure we do not spread illnesses to other students.

Field Day T-Shirts
Field Day T-Shirts will be coming home with K-3 & 5th students over the next few weeks! They will be inside of a plastic bag with a bright pink note attached to the outside of the bag. These shirts were handmade by the students, and are to be worn on Field Day which is Friday, June 3rd. Please do not allow your student to wear their Field Day T-Shirt prior to Field Day. Next week is a new month, make sure to get your May orders in now! Also, a reminder that the last day for hot lunch this school year will be May 19.

This will eliminate having to pay for it on Information Day in August.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation week is coming May 2 - 6!
We are so excited about what the PTO has planned for Teacher & Staff Appreciation week including Breakfast with Teachers, that we have not been able to do since 2019!
We have a schedule of events and themes that we have planned to make the week extra special for our AMAZING DuJardin teachers and staff. Please participate if you can.
Please add after "Please participate if you can": Tomorrow your students will be bringing home two "fan mail" sheets. These sheets can be filled out for any teacher or staff member your student wishes. Also, if you would like to print out extras at home, they will be placed in each student's Google classroom on their chromebook.
Also, the teachers have put together Amazon Wish Lists for "Wish Wednesday":

This week all grade levels will administer the Connection Card Survey to students in kindergarten - fifth grade. The Connection Card survey contains three questions:
1. Do you feel like you belong?
2. Do you have a trusted adult in the building?
3. Do you have at least one friend?
The Connection Card Survey is administered two times a year in the Bloomingdale School District. This is the first year that DuJardin has administered this survey to students. We know that students learn best when they feel a sense of belonging. Staff will review results from the survey and collaborate on ways to help all students feel a sense of belonging. Results will be shared with parents next week.
